It all began in January 2012, when the Ori Naftaly Band released their debut album “A True Friend (Is Hard to Find)”. It was recorded live at Luna Studios in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The release of "A True Friend" created a buzz throughout the Blues scene worldwide. The album was chosen as "Best Blues Album of 2012" by Jan Marius Franzen from Bluesmagazine.nl and several reviews were published about the band and album. Naftaly was soon interviewed by the Israeli newspaper "The Jerusalem Post" as well as many other magazines and music blogs from Europe, USA and Australia.
During 2012, the band had successfully accumulated an impressive international fan base in Holland, Germany, USA and other European countries. After over 100 shows in Israel, radio interviews and performances in all Blues radio shows and channels in Israel, Naftaly began planning the band's tour to the Netherlands. On September 12th, 2012, the band flew to Holland for a 3 week tour which consisted of 14 shows, 3 live radio performances and recording sessions.
The tour shows were in 10 different cities in Holland, in venues such as the Nispen Open Air Blues Festival and others all over the country.
In mid-October 2012 the Ori Naftaly Band won 1st place in the Israeli Blues Society Blues Challenge Competition. As the winning band, in January 2013 the band will fly to Memphis, TN (USA), to represent Israel in the International Blues Challenge competition (IBC) and compete against over 200 Blues Acts for all over the world.
The Ori Naftaly band is the first israeli band to have reached the Semi Finals and was picked as the fans favorite by selling the largest amount of CD's in the IBC. After the IBC, Ori Naftaly and Eleanor on Vocals played two shows in Chicago - B.L.U.E.S on Halsted as Headliners and The famous juke joint - The WaterHole. They were backed with Chicago finest musicians who played for Maic Slim, Koko Taylor and more.
