We know that what we're doing doesn't make much sense
We are aware that our actions and decisions may not seem logical or practical.

And we don't mind if you get all your laughs at our expense
We are unbothered by the fact that others find amusement or entertainment at our cost.

We're saving up our treasures 'til we reach the other side
We are accumulating our valuable possessions or achievements until we make it to our desired destination or future goal.

We'll get along just fine
We believe that everything will eventually work out for us and we will prosper in our own way.

We ain't as cute as Toby, Mike or Kevin
We acknowledge that we do not possess the same level of attractiveness or charm as other people, specifically Toby, Mike or Kevin.

But if the last shall be the first, we'll be the biggest stars in heaven
We have faith that our current state of being last or inferior will ultimately result in us being the most successful or renowned, even in the afterlife.

But for now we have to open for the opening band
Our current status only allows us to perform before the main act or in support of other musicians.

Move into the guest room, hope our parents understand
We must resort to living in less-than-ideal conditions, like a temporary guest room, and hope that our parents are accepting of our situation.

We're getting nowhere fast
Our progress or advancement is slow, if not nonexistent.

We're never gonna last
Our future as a band seems bleak or unlikely to continue for a prolonged period.

Our fifteen minutes got us about three and a half
Our short-lived stint or popularity has only lasted a fraction of the intended or expected time.

And maybe someday we'll look back on all of this and laugh
We hope that someday we can reflect on our current struggles or misfortunes and find the humor in it.

We don't care if we get rich or famous in this band
We are not motivated by the prospect of becoming wealthy or renowned as a musical group.

And so far the whole world is playing right into our hand
Thus far, the world around us is allowing us to follow our own path or agenda without interference or opposition.

We don't look to MTV like it's the Holy Grail
We do not view MTV or other music-related media as the ultimate or highest achievement to strive for.

We've only begun to fail
Despite our setbacks, we have not yet reached the end of our string of failures or disappointments.

The One-Hit Wonders laugh at us
Other bands or musicians who have only achieved one major hit or success are amused by our lack of comparable accomplishments.

'Cause at least they had a hit
They find solace in the fact that they have achieved more than us by having one notable success.

Classic underachievers, man We freely admit
We recognize and accept that we have not lived up to our full potential or expectations.

But living in a crummy yard beats sitting on the fence
We would rather experience the unpleasantness of our current situation than remain in a state of inaction or indecision.

We'll just keep on going til we learn to take a hint
We will persist in our endeavors until we realize or accept that we are not succeeding or advancing.

We're gonna go for the bronze and fly our banners at half mast
We will aim for a lower-tier or less prestigious achievement and display our symbol of victory at half-mast.

No time like the present to start living in the past
The best time to reminisce or dwell on the past is now or the present moment.

Our music group is present and we hope that you will appreciate our musical offerings.

Unfortunately, our future prospects and potential for employment seem grim or unlikely.
