I.Hello, my name is Tim Martin, and I would like to tell you about me and what I do. I was born in Macon Georgia in 1959. My parents and family moved to New Mexico in 1962. I started school at the New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped in the fall of 1964 and graduated in the spring of 1977.
I learned the basics in school, and I also received an excellent background in music. The teaching of music there at that time could be considered some of the best in the country. My teachers were very patient with me and gave me wonderful instruction. As a young person I experimented with drugs and alcohol, as many do, and found it leads to a life of heartache and pain. Most of the bad decisions I made during my youth were the direct result of drug abuse. I’m not proud of many of the things I did during my teenage years, but I’ve found forgiveness through the love and patience of a merciful God.
This brings me to the next part of my life and what I do. As a child I attended Sunday School, where I gained an understanding of who Jesus is and what He did for us, but I didn’t really experience His deliverance until the end of 1979. I came to a point in my life where the drugs and booze didn’t bring the joy they once did. Also, I was confronted with the reality of my sinful condition and my need for mercy from a holy God. When I understood who God is and what He did for us, I turned from my sinful lifestyle and started living for Him.
Now, I endeavor to make decisions that please Him. I never had real peace until I experienced His forgiveness. Having learned how to play piano and guitar as a child, I began to use these gifts to share this hope I have found. I will go anywhere I’m allowed and lift up His message. I believe the “good news” is the only hope for a lost and hurting world. Jesus is the only solution for humankind’s problems and the only answer for all our questions. The gospel has no limitations or boundaries.
II. Tim Martin (born in 1990) is a singer/songwriter from Glasgow. His music is a mixture of folk, rock, pop influenced by the likes of Elliott Smith, Belle and Sebastian, Bright Eyes, Nick Drake and The Smiths. He started songwriting while at high school, playting both solo and with his former band Dwam Logic (2007-2010). Now he primary plays as a solo artist, although he also plays in an electonic duo called Splashback.
In 2010 he recorded many of his songs in an acoustic format using a 4 track home recording system. Some of these recordings have been made available on spotify and itunes from March 2011 under the name Acoutsic EP. In May 2011 Tim Martin released The Judy EP which is available for free from various internet sites, including Mediafire and Bandcamp. The Judy EP has some new songs and some songs which were on the previously release but this time there is greater instrummentation.
