Through numerous line-ups they continued to push the envelope of the then-bugeoning "screamo" sub-sub-genre of punk rock. Their music was available on several compilations and 7" records, including a split release with Jeromes Dream, with whom they toured the United States, on Clean Plate Records. All their releases have been compiled and released on a discography CD, Disinformation Fix, on Alone Records.
The band utilized unconventional marketing methods, such as a die-cut album cover folded into the shape of a penis entering a vagina, and the inclusion of a razor with a record that promoted suicide on Electric Human Project. They reformed as a 4-piece in the year 2004, recorded a full length album, then unfortunately had to cancel a uk tour in 2005 which was supposed to be with phoenix bodies. They have been inactive since.
On August 25th, 2008 Usurp Synapse final release "A Vile Contamina" was finally made available through the bands official myspace page. "It's the whole shebang; all the tracks listed into a part one and two - don't ask for lyrics; don't ask for song titles. Enjoy. Your discography is now incomplete."
In 2019, there were talks of another reunion, and a new EP titled "Adult Adoption" was released, being a solo release by the band's guitarist Don Kirkland. It was released under the name of The Usurp Synapse, as that was the name used by the band for their unofficial extra releases. This event didn't mark a new reunion of the band.
However, in 2023, the band reunited officially, under a new incarnation made up of Antonio, Don, John, and Travis. They re-released their formerly 'final' EP "A Vile Contamina" but with newly recorded vocals, and released an entirely new single titled "Guitargoyles Just Wanna Have Fun", while going on tours and playing shows with bands such as See You Next Tuesday, Meth, OLTH, and Frail Body.
