The name of the band from Munich was deliberately chosen because they sing, cry and scream about the rise and fall of existence, about the great reality, conceptions of the enemy and the battlefields of the every day. The listener should fight - and thus get to know themselves.
They gained attention with unbelievably likeable songs which produce a celestial dimension of sound from bittersweet pop melodies, the next song alternating to a raw punk sound. Here unfolds their power above all else through the lovingly detailed playing of both guitarists, always supported by the facet rich bass melodies and the driving drum beats. Consequently, ZeitZeuge's music remains in constant motion, the complex song structures alternate tempos and unexpected changes provide excitement and transfer the rising energy to the legs of the listener. In quieter moments, however, the songs of the quintet appear more fragile. The instrumentation is sparser and picturesque piano tones step into the limelight. With their depth and, at the same time, dynamics, a type of melancholy is ensured which, in this day and age, is seen in few areas of popular music.
On this entire foundation stand their lyrics. Written in the language in which they think, their words immediately touch the listener, which is in no small part due to the unique voice of Moritz Michael. But only later do they raise themselves to a further poetic dimesion, which reveal themselves with repeated listening.
In 2008, ZeitZeuge, with producer Jochen Hansen (Rio Reiser, Abwärts), finally recorded their debut album, "Man singt, man weint, man schreit dafür" after having made it to the finals in 2006 at the "Rio Reiser Songpreis"
From this album comes a descriptive blend of feeling and social criticism - without kitsch and without put on attitudes.
ZeitZeuge makes pop music - and are nevertheless different than those who claim to be different.

Zeitzeuge Lyrics
