Together, the grrls create sort of folk-y, kind of punk rock-ish, emo-like noise, depending on their mood and current MySpace status. Their angsty songs range from clichéd brooding ballads to abstract piecemeal make-it-up-as-they-learn power chord symphonies, which they admit, often impress even their own humble egos.
Mystie and Charlotte met in a favorite East Village bar in New York City, where they were each shamelessly flirting with the bartender in hopes to get free drinks. They have since relocated to a bar three blocks away where they are now socially accepted, more or less, as lovely interior furnishings.
The Merchies, as they are sometimes referred, are currently toiling on their first demo with the help of Revelons’ guitar player, Mark Suall, and they are paying special attention to how to master (read: break) their respective instruments. Because of their charming demeanors, the grrls have been offered shows in Chicago, Seattle, Austin, New Jersey, London and Los Angels, all of which they plan on touring since they have finally played a show in New York.
In the new year, the girls have resolved to invent a medication for performance anxiety, lose some weight in some places, gain weight some in other places, cut down on tequilla shots after 1am, and figure out the Middle East. Meanwhile, they are plotting East Village domination with a subplot to kidnap a sexy drummer to eventually hold him hostage on the road.
