4) This is just a powerful song. It is multi-layered and it's awesome to see a suite on a jazz album. This album itself is amazing. Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers is one of my favourite groups and this is my favourite track on Moanin'. I really want this album.

Ironic that some of the most memorable drum songs were Benny's compositions, he probably had a drum set in his pad! I love "Blue's March" as well. These guys were cooler than Cool.

'Moanin' was Bobby Timmons, the pianist. (one of my favorites!) From what I remember, he was encouraged to flesh out his original riff into a full piece by Golson, but he composed it himself.
