Fading
Decyfer Down Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Addiction slowly setting in
I drifted off into dismay
Eyes looking back at me
I can't even see your face
The pressure is closing in
It's taken me again
Wait, it's all that I can take
And every single day
A part of my soul is fading
But now by letting go somehow
Unshackled and unbound
I'm calling out your name
I'm fading
So save me
From what I've become
It's like a force that's pulling you
It's empty promise hides the truth
Eyes looking back at me
I can't even see your face
The pressure is closing in
It's taken me again
Wait, it's all that I can take
And every single day
A part of my soul is fading
But now by letting go somehow
Unshackled and unbound
I'm calling out your name
I'm fading
So save me
From what I've become
Just about to break
Help me see the way
I shatter into pieces on the floor
Wait, it's all that I can take
And every single day
A part of my soul is fading
But now by letting go somehow
Unshackled and unbound
I'm calling out your name
I'm fading
Eyes looking back at me
I can't even see your face
The pressure is closing in
It's taken me again
Wait, it's all that I can take
And every single day
A part of my soul is fading
But now by letting go somehow
Unshackled and unbound
I'm calling out your name
I'm fading
Oh! Wait, it's all that I can take
And every single day
A part of my soul is fading
But now by letting go somehow
Unshackled and unbound
I'm calling out your name
I'm fading
So save me
From what I've become
The lyrics to Decyfer Down's song "Fading" are about the struggle of addiction and the desire to break free from its hold. The singer begins by describing how addiction slowly takes hold, causing him to drift into dismay. He can't even see the faces of those around him, and the pressure is overwhelming. The lyrics suggest that addiction is a force that pulls us in, promising fulfillment but ultimately hiding the truth.
The chorus of the song speaks to the desperation felt by those struggling with addiction. The singer pleads for help, knowing that a part of his soul is fading away each day. He recognizes that letting go is hard but necessary to become unshackled and unbound. The lyrics suggest that calling out to a higher power, represented by the repeated line "I'm calling out your name," is the way to break free from addiction.
The bridge of the song describes the moment of shattering - when the pressure becomes too much to handle and the addict feels as though they are breaking into pieces on the floor. But despite this desperation, the singer is resolved to keep fighting and to call out for help.
Overall, the lyrics to "Fading" are a powerful reminder of the struggle of addiction and the hope for freedom that can be found through faith and reaching out for help.

I always loved this song, but it hit way hard after a long relapse. When you don't know the value of the dollar you tend to throw money around carelessly. How much more the blood of Christ? I know it doesn't compare, because that's like comparing all of creations worth to a speck of nothingness. The shame I feel is indescribable, but also necessary. I was so dry for so long, and that relapse needed to happen. Today I had the most meaningful worship time that I've ever had. I wasn't singing about God, but I was singing to Him. While I cannot fathom the cost fully...paid in full! He spoke these words about Mary, "She loved much, because she was forgiven much." I've always loved that, but today I love much, because I see what I'm forgiven for, and it is much! Yahweh bless you DD guys. I've been down with the Down for a long time. Not to many bands that I cam sincerely feel their love for the Master in the music! Look forward to hearing some new stuff.
