You're the Reason I'm Living
Bobby Darin Lyrics

You're the breath that I take
You're the stars in my heaven
You're the sun when I wake
You're the reason I'm living
You carry me through
All of life's little burdens
I'd be lost without you
A long, long time ago
When I was down
You picked me up
And showed me that true love
Still could be found
You're the reason I do things
You're the things that I do
You're the reason I'm livin'
I'd be lost without you
Tell me again (you're the reason I'm living)
Oh, you carry me through
All of life's little burdens
I'd be lost without you
The lyrics to Bobby Darin's song "You're the Reason I'm Living" speak of the deep love and appreciation that the singer has for his significant other. He starts by saying that his partner is the reason why he's living, meaning that their love is his driving force and what keeps him going. He then compares his partner to the very things that sustain life, such as breath, stars, and the sun. These comparisons show how important his partner is to him and how they bring brightness and life to his world.
In the second verse, the singer reflects on a time when he was down and his partner picked him up and showed him that true love still exists. This suggests that their love has helped him through tough times and that they have been there for each other through thick and thin. The chorus repeats the idea that his partner is his reason for living and that they carry him through life's burdens. The song ends with a plea for his partner to remind him again that they are the reason for his existence.
Overall, the lyrics of "You're the Reason I'm Living" express a deep love and appreciation for a significant other. The lyrics compare the partner to important and valuable things in life, making it clear that this person is indispensable to the singer. Through tough times and life's burdens, the partner is there to carry him through, making their love the reason for the singer's existence.

Darin splendid singer of any musical genre, musician, songwriter, composer, dancer, actor and entertainer. What an immense talent.

This was such a big hit when Bobby Darin wrote it in 1963. It is still and forever will be a beautiful song. Bobby was a talented entertainer, song writer and singer. His life was much too short. May his memory live on through his music. Numerous renditions of 'You're The Reason I'm Living' by talented artists have been recorded and are good, but Bobby Darin gave the BEST performance of his song.

Even Joey Bishop did this song. Not badly either.

1963; likely inspired by Ray Charles' "Modern Sounds in Country Music" disc that came out the prior year. Thing is, Darin wrote this one himself, as he often did when crossing musical genres, and delivers a powerful, yet understated vocal. It hit #3 on Top-40 and crossed to Country as well. Darin could do any form of music, and his loss at 37 in 1973 was a great loss for all.
