Statements
Loreen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Read between the lies and set me free
Imagine the beginning of the end
And we don′t need to ever talk again
We don't need your way out
We don′t need your way out
We don't need your way out
Words cut but I don't care how much it hurts
Shades for the blind
Can′t hear your empty words
We don′t need no
We don't need no
Statements
Statements
Mother Mary try to keep it real
Save your prayers for peace and let us heal
Did our best but you say otherwise
We′re building up for war in paradise
Why
We don't need your way out
We don′t need your way out
We don't need your way out
We don′t need your way out
Words cut but I don't care how much it hurts
Shades for the blind
Can't hear your empty words
We don′t need no
We don′t need no

In the song "Statements", Loreen calls out the hypocrisy and empty promises of those in power. She urges them to stop hiding behind false words and finally take action to make a positive change in the world. The lyrics "karma, karma, come and dance with me" suggest that those who do wrong will eventually face the consequences of their actions. Loreen urges listeners to read between the lies and set themselves free from the falsehoods and empty promises of those who claim to have all the answers.
The line "Mother Mary try to keep it real, save your prayers for peace and let us heal" references the religious figure of Mother Mary as a symbol of hope and comfort for those who suffer. Loreen urges people to stop relying on prayer and instead take action to create a better world for everyone. The line "we're building up for war in paradise" implies that the world has become a twisted and distorted version of what it should be, and that we need to work to bring it back to its original state of peace and harmony.
Overall, "Statements" is a call to action to stop waiting for change to come and instead take action ourselves to make a difference in the world.

Poderosa “Statements” Te quiero
Loreen.

How many countries would kill to get an entry like this at ESC? MY GOD!
@LumaFan2001
Oriol99 Maybe every country would do that;)I was shocked about the result!
@basilm
San Marino will be represented by Loreen with the song "Statements" one of my biggest dreams :p

@CookyMonzta
@BASIL: San Marino has yet to decide. Early word is that they're going in a different direction; but I wouldn't be surprised if they approached her and she accepted. She wouldn't even have to win; just get them to the top 10 and it would be an earthquake.

Loreen does not sing to get into charts. She sings to get into our hearts. And she did.
@sarah0814s
YES!!! I agree with you!
@HejaSverige
Well said! This song certainly has a place in my heart

as a swede, my only guess to why this did not qualify to the finals was because... it was just too good and too brilliantly setup in terms of complexity for Melodifestivalen. i talked to a few people who were not a fan of the song and it seems like people couldnt take something out of their comfort zone. personally i adore this song and i definitely think it wouldve won easily if it was supported all the way
tldr; this song was too good for Sweden to deal with
