The eyes of Texas are upon you.
The real Yellow Rose of Texas the lovely Ann Sheridan Denton Texas.
Man, Iโve had to drink out of a muddy hoof print, and I was ### glad to get it.
Just to be again, and to see again, where the bloom is on the sage.
Ride cowboy ride, pushing through mesquite and sage, for your darling now lies on her death bed.
Whispering for you with each breath.

As a young kid I remember hearing this on the radio. In 1954, I was 8 when my Dad who was an Air Force office, received orders to Randolph Field, just outside of San Antonio. I was so excited to be moving to such a famous city. It is celebrated in song AND is the home of the Alamo! As a transplanted Texas, I still love my adopted hometown and State!
God Bless Texas!

One of the best tunes I've ever heard in my entire life...no matter who's doing it. It's got everything-It swings, it's bluesy & jazzy, great harmony vocals plus this stuff is a close relative to Mexican & German music/polkas...just a wonderful melting pot of great, great uplifting music and killer musicianship! This could only originate here in the USA...and I mean that in the most affectionate way:)

Yu described it to the Tee!!!!

@Daniel Hanson,
Everything you said is as great as this song. The only thing I'd add is also about a place in Texas. Historic.

My Grandpa didnโt talk much about his life growing growing up, but he would tell me about the time he got to play with Bob Wills and his face would light up! I could tell it was as a highlight of his life!

Music can be a spiritual awakening

This was my Father's favorite band when he was a teenager...
It's a wonder he tolerated my teenage obsession with Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd....

As strange as it may seem, he probably respected your musical interests. You like Bob, that means you have good taste. Your Dad knew you had good taste. After all, there are only two kinds of music: good and bad.
