Getting My House In Order
John P. Kee Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I want to see Your face
Your presence I felt so many times
Caused me to live my faith
Though there are times
When I long for my heavenly home, my heavenly home
I'm getting my house in order
So I'll be ready when He comes
These lyrics are a reflection on the desire to see God and be in His presence. The singer acknowledges that they have felt His presence many times and that has strengthened their faith. While they long for their heavenly home, they also understand the importance of getting their earthly affairs in order so that they will be ready when the Lord returns.
The phrase "getting my house in order" is often used to mean putting one's affairs in order before passing away. The singer seems to be using it in both a literal and metaphorical sense. They may be taking care of practical matters like making a will or organizing their possessions, but they are also taking spiritual steps to prepare themselves for meeting their Maker.
Overall, these lyrics convey a sense of urgency and a desire to be ready for the next life. The singer recognizes that they don't know when they will see God, but they want to be ready whenever that time comes.
