Whirlpool Productions Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Go up
Come down
Moving my body
All around

From disco to disco
From town across town
Everybody is trying to get down
To the love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Whirlpool Productions' song "From: Disco To: Disco" are a catchy representation of the disco era in music. The first couple of lines, "Go up, come down, moving my body all around", imply the kinetic energy and groove of the disco dance floor. One would dance and sweat their way through the night, moving their body up and down and all around, to the beats of the music. The next lines, "From disco to disco, from town across town, everybody is trying to get down to the love" illustrate the widespread popularity of disco music during its heyday. Discotheques (or "discos" for short) were popular nightclubs where people would go to dance and socialize. Discotheques varied in location, from one town to the next, but the shared aspect was the music that kept the people moving. The last line, "to the love", speaks to the romantic vibe and atmosphere that disco music was famous for creating. People would dance together and perhaps even find love on the dance floor. The lyrics altogether capture the essence of the disco era, one that brought people together through music, dance, and love.

@@TakeTheRedPillChicago We were in high tension amongst WPP when this recording happened because the three of us tended to get on our nerves after spending 2 or three weeks at the CAN studio far from home. Well, a 25 minute ride from cologne in the middle of nowhere.

Eric came up with the ditty in his big beautiful mind from DJ work in Cologne, while there were only the loops yet and we supposed the DENSE MUSIC lp is long enough anyway.
'
Eric played the (real) Wurlitzer Epiano and we did a vocal and percussion live "try" in Party Mode alot. Hans played Bass Guitar on 2t tracks (for the octaves, hehe), i wanted a synth bass, but like this it came out much sexier indeed.

If it wasn't for the engineer and studio owner and CAN-school-pupil ("the tape ALWAYS HAS TO RUN!") this would not exist, i mean if that would had happened at our cologne project studio, we'd not have dared or cared to press RECORD (and we neither owned a multitrack tape or harddiskrecording system in 1996 anyway).

A STUDER 24track for sure, and the man recorded that madness. For good. The little arrangement was not done by computer and soundblocks, but by doing mutes/unmutes on the wonderful CAN STUDIO board, a rebuild of the Conny Planck one.

I fucked up the ENDING, yack....
