In the highways, in the hedges
In the highways, in the hedges
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
If He calls me, I will answer
If He calls me, I will answer
If He calls me, I will answer
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin'
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
In the highways, in the hedges
In the highways, in the hedges
In the highways, in the hedges
I'll be somewhere workin' for my Lord
The Peasall Sisters' song "In The Highways" is a gospel song where the lyrics describe an individual's willingness and commitment to work for the Lord. The repeated line "in the highways, in the hedges" is a reference to the Bible verse Luke 14:23 which states "And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." In this context, the lyrics suggest that the individual is willing to fulfill their duty as a servant of God to reach out to people and spread his word, no matter where they may be.
Throughout the song, the individual emphasizes that they will be "somewhere workin' for [their] Lord" and that if they are called, they will answer. The repetition of this phrase suggests that the individual is devoted to God's work and that their service to him is constant and unwavering, even if they're not sure what that service might entail. The song is an upbeat and uplifting expression of faith and devotion that encourages listeners to follow God's words and commit themselves to doing his work.
Overall, the lyrics to "In The Highways" are about an individual's unwavering commitment to serving God, and their willingness to work tirelessly for him no matter where they are or what they're doing. The song encourages listeners to do the same and emphasizes the importance of dedicating oneself to the Lord's work.
