Galaxies
Laura Veirs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When you sing
When you sing
Stars fill up my eyes

Galaxies
Pour down my cheeks
GalaxiesĆ¢?Ā¦
They flood the street
Galaxies

When we dance
When we dance
Eels and sea grass float on by

I'm ten thousand leagues
Beneath the sea
I'm ten thousand leaguesĆ¢?Ā¦
Beneath the green
Ten thousand leagues

When we kiss
When we kiss
Bears and boulders vibrate through the air

Gravity
Is dead you see
No gravity
All I need
Is beating red
No gravity

No gravity (no, no, no, no, no, no, no gravity)
No gravity (no, no, no, no, no, no, no gravity)
No gravity (no, no, no, no, no, no, no gravity)
No gravity (no, no, no, no, no, no, no gravity)

Overall Meaning

In Laura Veirs's song, "Galaxies," she uses vivid language to describe the intense emotions that overwhelm her when she is with her lover. When he sings, she feels as if she is surrounded by stars and galaxies, so full and bright that they flood the street. When they dance, she feels submerged in the deep sea, surrounded by eels and sea grass. She is so far beneath the surface that she is ten thousand leagues under the sea. And when they kiss, the intense vibration between them feels like bears and boulders shaking the earth. It's as if gravity is gone, replaced with a beating red heart that keeps them together.

What's fascinating about the language that Veirs uses is that she combines natural images, such as stars, galaxies, eels, and sea grass, with more fantastical elements, like being ten thousand leagues under the sea, shaking bears, and the absence of gravity. This creates a sense of intense emotion, as if the singer is submerged in a world of sensation and feeling that transcends the everyday world.

Overall, the song captures the intensity of romantic love, and how it can make us feel as if we are part of something bigger and more profound than ourselves, like the vastness of the universe.

GalƔxias

Quando vocĆŖ canta, quando vocĆŖ canta
As estrelas enchem meus olhos
GalƔxias derramam-se por minhas bochechas
GalƔxias ... eles inundam a rua
GalƔxias

Quando danƧamos, quando danƧamos
Enguias flutuam por uma mar de grama
Estou 10.000 lƩguas abaixo do mar
10.000 lƩguas abaixo do verde ...
10.000 lƩguas

Quando nĆ³s nos beijamos, quando nos beijamos
Ursos e pedregulhos vibrar pelo ar
A gravidade morrerĆ” vocĆŖ verĆ”
Sem gravidade ... tudo que eu preciso estĆ” batendo vermelho
Sem gravidade ...

Cause mainstream is blissfully ignorant- real lyrics and creative beats/melodies are too complex for them to appreciate. Theyā€™ll catch up hopefully lol

Ditto. I watched it on Amazon Prime, so I'm kind of a big deal around here.

@glass4breakfast

hell yes! Coherence was great!!! (so was the song obviously, that's why I'm here) anyway at first it made me think of that Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters are due on Maple Street" (which is one of my favorite classic episodes) but than it reminded me more of the underground low budget indie film "Primer". and of course I have to mention the fucking cartoon show ever: Rick & Morty!!! because it also reminded me of that a lot, specifically the episode "Love Potion #9" where they destroy their original version of earth n go to another alternate dimension n replace the alt versions of themselves after they die in an accident n have to go bury their own bodies in the back yard! goddamn I love that show! lol
n this really was a interesting cool different kind of movie, i really enjoyed it.
