Let me tell you a story about a girl named Katie, whose life took a sharp turn at age 18.

Freshman in college, scholarship paid.
Katie was a college freshman on a scholarship, with a bright future ahead of her.

Boyfriend from high school was everything she needed
Katie had a boyfriend from high school who was perfect for her and made her happy.

Loved Katie to death, when he said it, he would mean it.
Her boyfriend loved Katie so much that he meant every word he said when he expressed his love for her.

Soon enough Katie started acting different,
Gradually, Katie's behavior started changing and becoming distant.

When he called to talk she would hardly even listen.
When her boyfriend would call to talk, she wouldn't pay attention or engage in conversations.

So the next weekend he hopped on a flight
He decided to surprise her and hopped on a flight to see her in person.

Thought a visit face to face would make everything right.
He believed that seeing her in person and having a heart-to-heart would fix their issues.

Got to a place butterflies in his stomach,
He arrived at the location with nervous excitement and anticipation.

Necklace in his hand he knew that she would love it.
He brought a gift for her, a necklace that he knew she would adore.

As he walked up, heard a noise from a far,
As he approached the location, he heard a strange noise in the distance.

Turned around and saw that it came from Katie's car
When he turned around to investigate, he saw that the noise was coming from Katie's car.

It was kinda dark, but he swore he saw the car shake.
He couldn't see clearly in the dim light, but he was almost certain that the car was shaking.

Took a few more steps, felt his heart break, it was Katie
As he got closer, he realized that his worst fear was coming true - it was Katie in the car.

She was in the back seat having sex with the star player on the lax team
He saw his girlfriend of years in the backseat of a car, cheating on him with someone else.

Meet Josh,
Let me introduce you to Josh, another person with a sad story to tell.

Hard working dude, had a kid at 18, dropped out of school.
Josh had a child when he was just 18 years old, and he had to drop out of school to support his family.

5 Years later he grinds through the work day
Years later, Josh was working hard every day to provide for his loved ones.

Man everyday, even on his birthday (damn)
He worked tirelessly, even on days that are typically reserved for celebration like his birthday.

Wife and son both love him to death.
Despite the daily struggles, Josh's family loved him more than anything.

But, he was having trouble dealing with the stress
The pressure of providing for his family weighed heavily on Josh, and it was hard for him to cope with.

So, he would pop pills, and do it often.
To alleviate his stress and cope with the daily struggles, Josh would often turn to pills and drugs.

Life seemed like one big maze that he was lost in.
For Josh, life felt like one big confusing and overwhelming labyrinth that he couldn't find his way out of.

And the addiction got worse everyday
As time went on, Josh's drug addiction spiraled out of control and only got worse with each passing day.

And she was worried sick, tried to help in anyway
His wife was extremely concerned about Josh's addiction and tried to help him in any way she could.

She would beg, and she would plead,
She begged and pleaded with Josh to get help and overcome his addiction.

Even started threatening that she was gonna leave.
When her pleas went unanswered, she even threatened to leave him if he didn't seek help.

Josh got fired. Only got worse,
Things only went from bad to worse for Josh when he got fired from his job.

He thought he couldn't give what his family deserved.
Josh believed that he couldn't provide for his family in the way they deserved, which left him feeling helpless and defeated.

So one night, when they opened the door
One night, when his family opened the door...

They saw a note and found josh dead on the floor.
...they found Josh dead on the floor, having succumbed to the pressures of life and addiction.

Danny hated the school system
The final story is about a young man named Danny, who had a hard time with the education system.

Teachers wanted nothing to do with him
Danny felt that his teachers didn't care about him and didn't make an effort to help him succeed.

He couldn't give a shit about his GPA,
Danny didn't care about his grades and didn't place as much emphasis on academic success as his teachers did.

Everyday when the bell rang he would lead the way
Despite his struggles in school, Danny was a good kid who was always eager to leave and start the day.

Good kid, showed love and affection
Danny was kind-hearted and showed love and affection to those around him despite facing difficulties.

Wanted to succeed but needed a direction
Danny wanted to succeed in life but felt lost and in need of guidance and direction.

Him and his best friend choose to leave school
Eventually, Danny and his best friend made the decision to drop out of school.

And thought enlisting in the army would be cool.
They thought that joining the army would be a cool adventure that would bring new opportunities and life experiences.

Get a fresh start, fight for the nation.
Danny and his friend saw the army as a chance to start fresh and serve their country at the same time.

Mom disagreed and cried when he was stationed.
Danny's mom was concerned about his enlistment and cried when she found out where he was stationed.

She held his picture when she went to bed,
Danny's mother missed him terribly and would hold his picture close to her heart when she went to bed at night.

Couldn't hear his voice so she wrote him letters instead.
Without being able to hear Danny's voice, his mother instead wrote him letters to feel closer to him.

Then he wrote back and it would get her through the days,
Whenever Danny wrote back, his mother would feel a little bit more at ease and better able to cope with his absence.

Either way she was counting down till the 1st of May.
Despite how difficult it was, Danny's mother marked the days on a calendar, eagerly awaiting his return on May 1st.

May 1st came, heard a knock on the door,
On May 1st, there was a knock at the door of Danny's house...

Opened up, and then she dropped to the floor.
...and when she opened it, she immediately collapsed to the floor in despair.

All three of these stories, while unique, share one thing in common: they all ended in tragedy and despair.
