Da Strike
Millencolin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You strike get pissed that is just the way it is use your
nose to the melancholy funk sound we are just a couple
of local bowlers hangin' out tonight leavin' all the girls
behind.

So what's a girl compared to a perfect game I guess a lot
if you find the right one if I had to choose between a bowl
and you I'm not tellin' you you're taking it the wrong way

I love the feeling that I get when I strike that's the only
time I feel alive don't need you babe just need to strike I
love the feeling that I get when I strike

You are in trance when you slick into the area you pass
the sa when you're taking off your pumas the way we
bowl is cleaner then the other styles it's pro but they say
we're doin' it the wrong way.

So I guess you must be crazy to be bowlin' like we do it's
cool we're doin' it our own way no fools no girls just the
rude boys from the south kickin' it slickin' it trickin' it
again.

Yes that's right bowlin' is allright the only time I feel alive
is when I'm hangin' at the A-house that's right pass me
those shoes I'm ready for the perfect game so watch me
shoot.

If you get upset and you don't understand it's quite
allright just follow your instincts physical activity is the
way to free your mind so get on your feet and bowl to the
funky beat.

You strike get pissed that is just the way it is use your nose to the melancholy funk sound we are just a couple of local bowlers hangin' out tonight leavin' all the girls behind.
Sometimes we get angry when we don't hit a strike, but that's just how it is. We'll use the sad funk music to help us feel better. Just a few guys from town, bowling tonight without any ladies around.

So what's a girl compared to a perfect game I guess a lot if you find the right one if I had to choose between a bowl and you I'm not tellin' you you're taking it the wrong way
I mean, a perfect game is so much better than a girl, but only if you find the right one, you know? I can't compare you or bowling, it's just not fair to either of you.

I love the feeling that I get when I strike that's the only time I feel alive don't need you babe just need to strike I love the feeling that I get when I strike
The thrill of hitting a strike makes me feel alive, like nothing else matters. I don't need a significant other, I just need to keep hitting strikes to keep feeling that way.

You are in trance when you slick into the area you pass the sa when you're taking off your pumas the way we bowl is cleaner then the other styles it's pro but they say we're doin' it the wrong way.
You get completely absorbed when you step up to bowl, ignoring everything else. We're switching out of our street shoes and into bowling shoes. Our style of bowling is more professional, but some people say we're not doing it right.

So I guess you must be crazy to be bowlin' like we do it's cool we're doin' it our own way no fools no girls just the rude boys from the south kickin' it slickin' it trickin' it again.
I suppose you might think we're insane for bowling the way we do, but that's fine, we're doing our own thing. No idiots, no ladies, just us tough guys from the southern part of town, showing off our moves.

Yes that's right bowlin' is allright the only time I feel alive is when I'm hangin' at the A-house that's right pass me those shoes I'm ready for the perfect game so watch me shoot.
Yeah, bowling is great! I only feel really alive when I'm here at the bowling alley. Ready for a perfect game, just hand me those shoes and watch me go.

If you get upset and you don't understand it's quite allright just follow your instincts physical activity is the way to free your mind so get on your feet and bowl to the funky beat.
If you're feeling upset and can't figure out why, that's okay, just listen to your gut. Exercise is a great way to clear your head, so get up and bowl along with the funky beat.

Back in the 90s in Orebro I ended up at a few parties with a couple of the Millencolin guys. I didn't know them personally but we had some mutual friends. Happy to report that they are just as mellow and laid back in real life as they seem in interviews and such. Just regular guys having a good time. No douchebaggery, no egos. Just genuinely nice guys.

Sweet song. Also, Drummer has a sweet “Wake Up” shirt, back in ‘94. Just a bit ahead of his time..🤟🏻

I remeber when Adil Dyani (norwegian proskater) visited fryshuset skatepark and he put this song on in the minipamp room and started skating, totally ripping the place and flowing to the music, making 360s and all kind of crazy stuff. I believe this was in summer 1994 . If i remeber it correctly the song was not released yet but Adil somehow had i on a tape...Anyway it fitted so well with his rad skatestyle!
