Day Ones
Baauer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

More time with the Gs
More time aim for the Co-Ds
On the block with the Mandem
And you know we don't like beliefs
From day one, nigga, I'll buck and squeeze
I'll pop the streets, yeah, I'll do it with ease
South is where you'll find me
Don't trust anyone cuh the road's grimy
You don't wanna try me, nah, most likely
See a nigga knocked down, that's unlikely
Cuh every one of my Gs are just like me
My Mandem are OTT
Day one, nigga, I'm a real nigga
Trill nigga, I'm a rudeboy, I'm an ill nigga
Like dead, you don't wanna try me
I've got my day one, it's real on the street

Still riding with your day ones? Let me hear you scream
You wish a nigga would, huh? Let me hear you scream
And when you in your hood and everybody counting cream
I'm talking cash ruling everything around me
Still riding with your day ones? Let me hear you scream
You wish a nigga would, huh? Let me hear you scream
And when you in your hood and everybody counting cream
I'm talking cash ruling everything around me

Watch how you address me, nigga
Huh, don't vex me, nigga
I'm too blessed
I'm way up to be stressed, nigga
Don't pardon my judgement nigga
Free my nigga Hood / It's a blood thing nigga
Or better yet, it's a cuz thing nigga
To everybody locked up, I love y'all niggas
I'm the black elephant in the room
Don't swat flies, I go tick boom, boom
I, zoom zoom
I'll flip on you too
Like Kendrick, doot doot doot doot doot
Ski mask in the air
And if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed and don't care
Hell yeah

Before you cross that bridge, you better look both ways, ent
Like D Rose, we play no games, it's Brooklyn all day, ent
See, I tried to tell 'em before, they didn't understand but they do now
So now whenever they call, they gotta listen to di long beep now
Mi nuh care about foes
I got a lot of niggas
I'm tryna flip these hoes
And make a lot of figures
Ha, and take it back to the hood
Bainbridge to the Bay, everybody, what's good?
VA, Chi-town, Baltimore, Inglewood, we Texas flexin

Still riding with your day ones? Let me hear you scream
You wish a nigga would, huh? Let me hear you scream
And when you in your hood and everybody counting cream
I'm talking cash ruling everything around me
Still riding with your day ones? Let me hear you scream
You wish a nigga would, huh? Let me hear you scream
And when you in your hood and everybody counting cream
I'm talking cash ruling everything around me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Baauer's song Day Ones seem to be about loyalty, friendship, and survival in the face of danger. The first verse talks about spending more time with the Gs and aiming for the Co-Ds, which might refer to gang affiliations and the pursuit of power within those groups. The singer also mentions being on the block with the Mandem, which is slang for a group of friends or associates. However, he emphasizes that he doesn't like beliefs, which may suggest that he prefers practicality and action over ideology and speculation.

The chorus reinforces the theme of loyalty, urging listeners to stay true to their day ones and expressing confidence in their abilities to succeed in the face of adversity. The singer also talks about cash ruling everything around him, suggesting that money and power are significant factors in his world.

The second verse begins with a warning to not vex the singer, who feels too blessed to be stressed. He acknowledges the challenges of life and mentions having to make tough judgments, but he also expresses love for his incarcerated friends and a desire to flip hoes and make lots of money. The verse ends with a reference to Texas flexin' and a callout to several cities, suggesting a sense of camaraderie and solidarity among people from different places.

Overall, the lyrics of Day Ones reflect the realities of urban life and the importance of loyalty, survival, and ambition in that context.

3 years, no instrumental. That's criminal.

EDIT: Instrumentals that were just released by blessed youtubers are definitely a leap in the right direction! Intro isn't added completely, but definitely solid 90% efforts!

I like One Touch - Rae Sremmurd, Aluna George, & Baauer. Anyone else ever hear it?💜I'm bought it in iTunes and in in love...maybe cause Baauer😘

@Shoey

Yeah, that song's awesome.

@TheFilmGospel0

It's hard to believe that so many people are upset about the fact that there is rapping over this. Really? The energy in the track is brilliant and the rapping is 50% of that. The way that the rappers feed off of the track is near perfect.

@TheRealSpicySucc

most people came for the beat

@legoworldfan

Kei.

It's a shame when there's a song with a good beat and it's then ruined by rap.
