The Curse
Wolf Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Body twisted in a pattern
You know they stare at the light
They are too dead but the body don't mind
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
You know a neutral sky
And nothing to do at night
Little highway lights
They shine
Well, from the top of the mountain
To the rock and sand
Drive a dead farther west
'Til they ran out of land
We walked five whole minutes
To the dark edge of town
Took a long look at nothing
And turned back around
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
You know the neutral sky
And nothing to do at night
Little highway lights
They shine
Under the new sun now
They're coming only alive
I might be here all the time
And I share no body no mind
Under the new sun now
They're coming only alive
I might be here all the time
And I share no body no mind
From the top of the mountain
To the rotten sand
We're driving back
Farther west until it ran out of land
We walked five whole minutes
To the dark edge of town
Took a long look at nothing
And then turned back around
The lyrics of Wolf Parade's "It's a Curse" depict a sense of disconnection and isolation from the world. The opening lines "Just the other night, Body twisted in a pattern" describe a physical manifestation of the mental turmoil and confusion that the singer is experiencing. He feels like he's being watched, but his body is indifferent to that as it's too dead.
The following lines talk about the lack of things to do and the barrenness of the environment around them. The lines "You know a neutral sky, And nothing to do at night, Little highway lights, They shine" reinforce the sense of aimlessness and boredom.
The chorus repeats the same lines over and over again, driving home the point of a neutral, lifeless existence. Later on in the song, the lyrics take a more surreal turn, as if the singer is disconnected from reality. The lines "Under the new sun now, They're coming only alive, I might be here all the time, And I share no body no mind" suggest that the surroundings are changing, but the singer is unaffected by it. He is present physically, yet emotionally absent.
Overall, the song's lyrics convey a feeling of desolation and loneliness, with the environment and surroundings contributing to the singer's detachment from reality.

Hey guys. If you're one of the people who likes this movie I made in college in 2004, I've got a book series you might also enjoy. It also has spooky wolf stuff and it's, uhh, written better. Thanks! https://amzn.to/2KOhTPJ

effects arent everything, this was very entertaining, a good enough story. thanks for sharing, i like how theres so much critisism without having anything better to offer, keep up the good work. way better story than alot of the shows on cable!

Actually, for a student film, this one is very well made and a lot of the unknown actors and actresses in it look like they could have serious future careers in entertainment. They even have an interesting human / werewolf fight sequence at time 51:30 which even big budget films would have trouble shooting. Very impressive first effort, imo!

I laughed my head off watching this! Unexpected fun!

This film is way better than any of the responders commented. A good lesson for those actors who need
a bit more training in their craft. Keep practicing guys ... Think again about
"Sharknado". Silly camp and super entertaining. Its the ability to pass off this unintentional
humor as serious fact that makes these B films fantastic.
Thanks so much
for posting.
