Summer Knights
Joey Bada$$ Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's been a minute since they seen a style with no gimmicks
Clouds is they limits cause we in 'em, eyes low
Squinted,
more L's but we winning,
acting like it's
Hard to find women when I'm in these hard-to-find linens
Remember those days it was hard to find a living
But now we got ends, and it's only the beginning
Big pimpin', fooling dimes, rob 'em for they innocence
Cake like Entenmann's,
flow sweet like cinnamon
He a child, but they treat him like a bigger man
Cause when the pen in his hand, they big 'em up like he Jigga man
Know you see him in the mirror fam,
the ones who say
You ain't hot but your biggest fan like, "Nigga, damn."
Before he got popular, he been the man
With your chick in the cam,
rolling through an Instagram
Got it with the grands, everybody say they dissed a fan
Know the haters too jelly, but fuck it though; it's the jam
It's the fuckin' jam

Maaaaaaaan, I can't rightfully describe the feelings attached to this project. One of the most interesting and painful parts of my life, year 2013, when I started boarding school. I listened to Summer Knights, 1999 and a lot of Steez's songs throughout this time. I felt fairly lonely and these tracks accompanied my mind and soul. God bless you, Joey!

Trap Door will ALWAYS be a top 5 Joey Bada$$ song for me 💯

Lukecage83

so dope to me being an older head (1983), and seeing a bunch of comments from younger heads saying "this tape got me thru highschool" and shit like that. I just remember all the hip-Hop that got me thru high school (1997 - 2001), I was (still am) bumpin' Nas, Wu, Mos Def, Dilated Peoples, Pharcyde, Planet Asia, Slum Village, Stretch/bobbito mixtapes and tons of just pure underground shit. Mos and Kweli's Blackstar joint was the shit I played down to the grissle. It's just cool to see this generation having MC's of equal caliber to the seasoned vets of rap/hip-Hop. Joey Bad is def. among one of the best MC's to touch a mic! from 73 til infinity...

Tyrell Taylor
