Ratzinger was the creative force behind Wumpscut, occasionally employing the help of others as guest artists. Ratzinger cites the influence of such bands as Leæther Strip as his reason for making the transfer from DJing to recording music.
The release of the song "Soylent Green", which is named after the 1973 movie and also contains audio samples from the German dubbed version, first attracted attention to Wumpscut. Since its release in 1993, it has become a frequently played song at events and clubs in the gothic and industrial subcultures and its associated splinter groups, both in Germany and the United States.
So far Ratzinger has published numerous recordings and remixes for other artists. Wumpscut is also very well known for elaborate box set releases including limited versions of a CD or LP release in a box with additional and often also limited bonus material (bonus tracks, energy drinks, posters, pins, stickers, bags, flags, etc.). Wumpscut albums are reissued regularly with variant artworks and occasionally bonus tracks. Standalone merchandise is also available such as caps, mugs, etc.

Rise Again
:Wumpscut: Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In your grave you can't see there's a hard fight
In your grave you can't see what's going on there
In your grave you can't see we're going nowhere
In your grave everything's gonna be fine
In your grave paradise's of a soil mine
In your grave you don't need to make your mind up
In your grave there's no need to make a wind-up
Did I kill, some of your people, Marnau?
Did I kill, did I kill, I can't remember
Do you want to rise again
Is it worth to rise again
A promised land
I am tired of your sophisms!
The lyrics to "Rise Again" by :Wumpscut: speak to the concept of being buried, both literally and metaphorically. The repetition of "in your grave" emphasizes the idea that when someone is buried, they are cut off from the world and unable to see or experience what is happening outside of their final resting place. The lines "everything's gonna be fine" and "paradise's of a soil mine" suggest a false sense of security and prosperity that may be promised in death, but it is ultimately meaningless. The chorus poses a question to Marnau, asking if it's worth it to try and rise again, to come back to life and face the struggles of the world once more. The mention of a "promised land" may be a reference to religious beliefs about an afterlife being better than life on earth.
The final line, "I am tired of your sophisms!" seems to be directed at Marnau, who may be the one speaking or singing the rest of the lyrics. "Sophisms" are often used to describe deceptive or fallacious arguments, so it's possible that Marnau is using rhetoric to try and convince themselves or others that rising again is worth it despite the risks and hardships.
