The Middle
[Jimmy Eat World] Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't write yourself off yet
It's only in your head you feel left out or looked down on
Just try your best
Try everything you can
And don't you worry what they tell themselves when you're away
It just takes some time
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright
Hey
You know they're all the same
You know you're doing better on your own so don't buy in
Live right now
Yeah, just be yourself
It doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else
It just takes some time
Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright
It just takes some time
Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright
Hey
Don't write yourself off yet
It's only in your head you feel left out
Or looked down on
Just do your best
Do everything you can
And don't you worry what their bitter hearts are gonna say
It just takes some time
Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright, alright
It just takes some time
Little girl, you're in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright

[Lyrics of "The Middle" by Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey]
[Verse 1: Maren Morris]
Take a seat
Right over there, sat on the stairs
Stay or leave
The cabinets are bare, and I'm unaware
Of just how we got into this mess, got so aggressive
I know we meant all good intentions
[Pre-Chorus: Maren Morris]
So pull me closer
Why don't you pull me close?
Why don't you come on over?
I can't just let you go
[Chorus: Maren Morris]
Oh baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle
Baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle
[Verse 2: Maren Morris]
Ohh, take a step
Back for a minute, into the kitchen
Floors are wet
And taps are still runnin', dishes are broken
How did we get into this mess? Got so aggressive
I know we meant all good intentions
[Pre-Chorus: Maren Morris]
So pull me closer
Why don't you pull me close?
Why don't you come on over?
I can't just let you go
[Chorus: Maren Morris]
Oh baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle
[Bridge: Maren Morris]
Lookin' at you, I can't lie
Just pourin' out admission
Regardless of my objection, oh, oh
And it's not about my pride
I need you on my skin
Just come over, pull me in, just
[Chorus: Maren Morris]
Oh, baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle, no no
Baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
Oh yeah, I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
Oh, in the middle
Baby-y-y, why don't you just meet me in the middle, baby?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle, middle?
In the middle, middle

Japanese translation
Verse 1: Maren Morris]
Take a seat
right over there, sat on the stairs
Stay or leave,
the cabinets are bare and I'm unaware
Of just how we got into this mess, got so aggressive
I know we meant all good intentions
[Pre-Chorus: Maren Morris]
So pull me closer
Why don't you pull me close?
Why don't you come on over?
I can't just let you go
[Chorus: Maren Morris]
Oh baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle
Oh baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle
[Verse 2: Maren Morris]
Take a step back for a minute, into the kitchen
Floors are wet and taps are still running, dishes are broken
How did we get into this mess?
Got so aggressive
I know we meant all good intentions
[Pre-Chorus: Maren Morris]
So pull me closer
Why don't you pull me close?
Why don't you come on over?

So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle
[Bridge: Maren Morris]
Looking at you, I can't lie
Just pouring out admission
Regardless of my objection
And it's not about my pride
I need you on my skin
Just come over, pull me in, just
[Chorus: Maren Morris]
Oh baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle, no, no
Oh baby, why don't you just meet me in the middle?
I'm losing my mind just a little
So why don't you just meet me in the middle?
In the middle

@TheGroovyGuitarDude
For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here's how :)
Verse and Pre-Chorus:
C C G D (↓ per chord)
Chorus:
C G D
C Em D
Alternate between those two chord progressions through the chorus, strum pattern is:
C - ↓↑ ↓
G/Em - ↓↑↓↑
D - ↑↓↑↓↑
Bridge:
Am C G D (↓ per chord)
And that's everything you need to play this on guitar! Hope that helps! If you get stuck or need any extra help I just posted a video guitar lesson for this on my channel :)

My 8 yr old daughter loved this song. She used to sing it to the top of her lungs. She passed away last year in a tornado. 😞💔😪. It breaks my heart so much. Tonight I heard it while grocery shopping and it tore me up so bad but it made me feel like she was sending me a sign saying she’s still watching over me and she’s happy in heaven and she’s ok. I love you for this song ❤️
@livygaming3170
I’m so sorry, hope all goes well!
@czjt79a
I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure she’s still ✨Vibing✨ to this song in Heaven (where she most certainly went if you believe in that) and have a wonderful rest of your day/night! 💕💕💕💕💕
