Speak To Me

Been over the edge for yonks
Been working me buns off for bands
I've always been mad, I know I've been mad
Like the most of us, very hard to explain why you're mad
Even if you're not mad
The lyrics to Pink Floyd's "Speak To Me" are an introspective look at the state of being mad or crazy. The singer acknowledges that they have been "mad for fucking years," and that being over the edge has been a long-standing issue. They mention working hard for bands, which could either refer to being a musician themselves, or working behind the scenes as a sound engineer or roadie for touring acts.
The singer then confesses that they have always been mad, and that it's a difficult thing to explain. This sentiment is something that many people can relate to, as society often stigmatizes mental health issues and makes it challenging for those struggling to communicate what they're going through.
Overall, the song serves as an introduction to Pink Floyd's classic album, "The Dark Side of the Moon," and sets the tone for the introspective and thought-provoking themes explored throughout the record.

Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave but don't leave me
Look around and choose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, rabbit, run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave.

I was introduced to pink floyd in my teens and have loved this band ever since. Reflective, meloncholic, at times haunting. The music pulls you inside yourself to heal.
