One Day More
[THEATRE] Lyrics

One day I’ll
One day I’ll
One day I’ll wake up with someone I love
Watch him stir and laugh a laugh
Freer than the freest laugh around
And as you sleep I’ll sneak away
And brew coffee for our days anew
Fresher than the freshest brew in town
One day
One day
One day
One day I’ll be brand new.
One day I’ll build a kitchen of my own
Spatulas and mixing bowls
Hanging by a busy stove with you
And if you leave me I won’t fall again
Mourn the world and let it end
I’ll pick up my pieces and let you
Because one day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day
One day I’ll be brand new

I just want to express my fullest opinion and analysis as to why this is not just one of but THE greatest song ever composed. Not only does it perfectly capture the struggles of each character and how their struggles correlate (giving justice to the 3rd book of Les Misérables, a rare occasion wherein majority of the character's fate intertwines), the song itself weaves together SEVEN MELODIES, AND THAT IS GENIUS!!!

Who Am I? to "One day more, another day another destiny" - Both depicts struggle in identity, that is why Valjean reprises his melody wherein he hides his true self

I Dreamed A Dream to "I did not live until today" - Cosette, like her mother Fantine, sings about love dream along with Marius. Eponine intervening references A Heart Full Of Love

I Dreamed A Dream (bridge?) to "One more day all on my own" - a melody that depicts struggle as it also used in "One more day before the storm" and surprisingly the melody itself (movement of notes and the beat) is actually a mirror image of Do You Hear The People Sing (melody goes up instead of down, vice versa) the difference is that the latter is an uplifting/optimistic view of struggle wile the former is of a pessimistic take on struggles

Red and Black to "Do I follow where she goes" (and later "My place is here, I fight with you" - Marius's struggle between 'red and black' (to choose either joining the revolution or following his loved one)

The Confrontation to "One day more to revolution" - Javert's theme about confronting people

Master of the House to "Watch 'em run amock" - theme of Thenadiers' malicious activities (looting and stealing)

AND FINALLY!!! THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!! The song circles back to the melody of Who Am I? in "Tomorrow we'll discover what our God in heaven has in store" indicating that their own struggles help define who they truly are!!!
