I Will Find You
[dead] P.o.e.t.s. Lyrics

In the cut of the night
Driving heavy on River Road
Looking to find I just want to move things along
I don't want anyone's life
Just getting to know my own drive, drive, drive

Whoa, whoa, midnight came
You're at the window I'm in a frame
And the truth is all that remains
I will find you

I will find you
I will find you
I will find you

Foot on the floor, heading straight for the county line
City's no good, in the shadow you leave behind
Mama said follow the stars but I ran out of country road
Drive, drive yea I drive

But the truth will split you in two, gotta find you
I will find you

I will find you
I will find you
I will find you
I will find you

I've got to

I will find you

Nothing will break us apart
Neither the miles or stars
All I know in my head, in my soul
There's only two, there's me and you
I will find you
I will find you
I've got to

I will find you

Often summer rains just can't wait to fall
From underneath the tired atmosphere
Me I'm in a plane, watching empty cars
Fall into the ocean disappear
But I can't tell if this is real
Are those mountains made of steel
Am I on my way to everything that I want or am I here
Inside the town where I was raised
We turned and walked away
Better to be lost than without you

We're all meant to be, shoreline at our feet
Waiting on a wave to run into
Then out beyond the reef, the current pulled us deep
But I fought for you
The sun that turned to night, you disappeared and I'm
Left waiting on a clue, the air I'm cutting through
I can find you
I will find you
I have got to
I will find you

Find you

I've got this woman and she needs me bad
But she don't know
I crossed the world but
It crossed me back
All night long, to a time wandered like a fool
Then one night, I fell in love with you

I got this woman, yeah, she's so damn bad
But she don't know, I'd do anything to get her back
All night, oh
To a time, wandered like a fool
Then one night, the sounds you heard were true
Oh, they are true
Ooh, I found you
I found you, you
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing, I found you
Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Just keep believing, I found you
Hey, just keep believing hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing, I found you
Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing
I found you

Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing

Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing
Hey, just keep believing, hey, just keep believing

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of [dead] P.o.e.t.s.'s song "I Will Find You" depict a narrator who is on a journey to find someone that they deeply care about. The song begins with the singer driving on River Road, looking to move things along in their life and just focusing on their own drive. The idea of leaving everything behind and finding oneself is also suggested through the mention of the city being no good and the need to follow the stars. However, the lyrics shift to a different theme, as the singer confesses that they are searching for someone and will find them no matter what. The repetition of "I will find you" conveys a sense of determination and persistence. The lyrics also suggest that distance and obstacles cannot break the bond between the singer and the person they are searching for, as the singer states: "nothing will break us apart, neither the miles nor stars."

The second half of the song introduces a new setting, with the singer on a plane and witnessing mountains made of steel, which creates a surreal atmosphere. The lyrics also admit to the struggle of being lost without the person they are searching for. The song ends with a repetition of the phrase "I found you," which indicates the determination of the singer to keep pursuing their loved one until they are reunited.

Overall, "I Will Find You" depicts a sense of longing, determination, and hope that an individual has when searching for someone that they deeply care about. The lyrics convey the difficulty of the journey, but also the strength of the bond between two people.

Spring starts when a heartbeat's pounding
When the birds can be heard above the reckoning carts doing some final accounting
Lava flowing in Superfarmer's direction
He's been getting reprieve from the heat in the frozen food section

Don't tell me what the poets are doing
Don't tell me that they're talking tough
Don't tell me that they're anti-social
Somehow not anti-social enough, all right

And porn speaks to it's splintered legions
To the pink amid the withered cornstalks in them winter regions
While aiming at the archetypal father
He said with such broad and tentative swipes why do you even bother?
Don't tell me what the poets are doing
Those Himalayas of the mind
Don't tell me what the poet's been doing
In the long grasses over time

Don't tell me what the poets are doing
On the street and the epitome of vague
Don't tell me how the universe is altered
When you find out how he gets paid, all right
If there's nothing more that you need now
The lawn cut by bare breasted women
Beach bleached towels within reach for the women
Got to make it, that'll make it by swimming

he should us how to live and how to die

@johnnydtractive

This is one of their best videos. Top 3.
It's a microcosm of the band live--the tight musicality, the sense of humour stuffed in all the nooks & crannies, & Gord. I mean he's just so....Gord. Constantly surprising, constantly using his body, his gestures & his facial expressions to riff in unexpected ways on the lyrics & music. All the little cinematic gestures--the shotgun, the lights out, the pandering to the audience of...cats. I just love this video, it's a fantastic amusing expression of everything great about the Hip.

Perfectly said!

"I... had a job before this. I had a job before this. It was that job... that got me into this."
His stage rants always blew me away.
