Somewhere In Time
[unknown] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Traveling forward in time, I died twice. Both exactly at the same time, on the same day.

It's my 100th birthday. I'm on a boat where I fall. Someone kicks me into the water.
As I descend into the water depths I see visions of what will be. Only a few are noted before my passing. I struggle to find known success before dying. I'm traveling to fast to know outcome.

Many smiles are shared between me and another. Lots of endorphin producing and incredible moments of intimate ecstasy.

The world changes but I remain true to who I am.

So many things flash past, I wish I could travel trough time slower to experience them in real time.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Stitch in Time" by [unknown] are very complex and can be interpreted in many ways. The song seems to be about a person who has lived a long life and is now reflecting on their past. The person talks about dying twice at the same time on the same day, which is a possible reference to spiritual or metaphorical death. The first death could be the end of their physical life, while the second could be a transformation into a new phase of life.

The person then talks about their 100th birthday party and being on a boat where they fall into the water. As they descend into the depths of the water, they see visions of what will be. They struggle to find known success before dying and are traveling too fast to know the outcome. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for how life passes by too quickly and how the person wishes they could slow down and enjoy it more.

The person then talks about many intimate moments shared with someone else and how they remain true to themselves even as the world changes. The song ends with the person wishing they could travel through time slower to experience life fully.

Overall, "Stitch in Time" seems to be a reflective song about the passing of time and the importance of living life fully.

Had a lucid visitation dream in Feb 2016, about a girl I once knew & fell in love with but left behind in 1986 when I went in the army due to various circumstances beyond my control. Her father was in it too and both conveyed to me without talking that "It was no big deal... it was no big deal." Possibly suggesting that I should have come back or forgiven I guess.

I blew it off because I had other tasks to tend to for that day, the rest of the week, etc. Yet I thought it was weird since I haven't really thought of her in nearly 25years.

Anyways I forgot about that dream as well, until it happened again Feb, 2018. Same dream. Same telepathic message.

So then curiosity got the better of me, looked her up online... nothing. So I looked up her dad online, found his obituary, and discovered that she had passed away as well in 1989.

When I had those dreams with her and her father, I had no idea that both of them had advanced on in the next life. 🌎🌤️💕

I'm not sure there is a 'perfect film' but this comes just about as close as I can imagine and i've seen thousands

I cannot fathom how this masterpiece got not a single nod at the Academy Awards

The fact contemporary critics savaged it reminds me of why I don't listen to critics

A beautiful, exquisite piece of cinematic art.

I had the fortunate opportunity of a summer college internship at the hotel where the crew and actors stayed during the filming of the movie. Reeves and Seymour were the real deal, very friendly, approachable and often seen walking the streets of Mackinac Island together when not filming, understandable how their film relationship seemed so real & sincere. My 15 seconds of fame ended up on the cutting room floor as my role as a bellman at the Grand Hotel never made it to the big screen...but what a thrill.

does it get any better than this? it's one of my all time favorite movies. the chemistry between Seymour and Reeves is incredible. the music gives me chills. I named my first daughter after Jayne Seymour's character.

This film needs a remake but with an updated story to include a black transgendered man falling in love with an Hispanic transgendered woman from the distant past. What a story that will make!

The music is beautiful and haunting.
