Warning Sign
¿áÍæ(Coldplay) Lyrics

A
warning sign I
missed the good part then I realised That
I started looking and the bubble burst I
started looking for excuses Come
on in I've, got to tell you what a state I'm in I've
got to tell you in my loudest tones That
I started looking for a warning sign When

the truth is I
miss you Yeah
the truth is That
I miss you so A

warning sign You
came back to haunt me and I realised That
you were an island and I passed you by When
you were an island to discover Come
on in I've, got to tell you what a state I'm in I've
got to tell you in my loudest tones That
I started looking for a warning sign And

the truth is I
miss you Yeah
the truth is I
miss you so And
I'm tired I
should not have let you go So

I crawl back into your open arms Yes
I crawl back into your open arms And

I crawl back into your open arms Yes
I crawl back into your open arms

Overall Meaning

The song "Warning Sign" by Coldplay is a melancholic ballad about a man who is coming to terms with the fact that he still misses a former lover. The "warning sign" of the title is a metaphor for the emotional barriers that he put up to protect himself after the breakup, which he now realizes were just excuses he made to avoid confronting his feelings. The first verse sets up the situation by describing how the man missed the early signs that the relationship was falling apart, and that he began to look for excuses to justify his own behavior. The chorus then declares the truth of the situation: that he misses his former lover deeply, and that he has been haunted by her absence ever since.

The second verse adds a new layer to the metaphor by describing the former lover as an "island" that the man passed by without realizing its true value. This image conveys both the isolation that the man feels without his former lover, as well as the notion that he has lost something precious that he may never find again. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the man's yearning for his former lover, and the bridge introduces a note of regret for having let her go so easily. However, the final lines of the song offer a glimmer of hope as the man crawls back into his former lover's arms, suggesting that he may have finally found the courage to confront his true feelings and make a change.

Thank You Dr. Frita. Very well presented, good technical insight, graphics and text. Many people could benefit more from leaving your printed lists (enlarged) and diagrams 'on screen' while you give explanations. It takes a lot of us 'visual learners' longer to associate word meaning with physical attributes. I look forward to more of your podcast presentations.

Great video, thank you. If someone feels pain in the neck that the moves to the head over a day or so, could this be a sign of those clots that travel from outside the brain through the neck arteries? Or would a pain like that be a "normal" headache? Thanks again!

Best explanation I've heard concerning a stroke. Thank You Dr. Freda.

I had a fraternal grandmother, her two daughters (my aunts), and a maternal aunt pass away in their 40s due to heart attack and strokes. I'm now in my 40s and panic everytime something doesn't feel right with my body. 😰😖
