I want to fly!!!...
My eyes are like a little bird's
A bit afraid
My eyes are like a little bird's
A bit ashamed
I'm flying so far away
Soon we'll play another game
We need luck to go on
HO TON WACHALO
We need luck to go on
HO TON WACHALO
I'm flying so far away
I need your help YAH YAH YAH
The Hina ceremony is now
The Hina ceremony is now
HORIM SHORIM MIT RONANYIM
HO TON WACHALO OHAVIM
Hina ceremony is now
Hina ceremony is now
Oh... oh... oh... oh...
I want to fly!!...
I want to fly!!...
HORIM ROKADU KI'ALIM
SO SEM WA SIMHO
AVAN MO'ASH HABONIM
HO TON LACHARO ITARO
Na na na na...
I want to fly!!...
ANA NAZALTI
ANA NAZALTI
ANA NAZALTI
WA LA REFNE ZULEH
ANA NAZALTI
ANA NAZALTI
ANA NAZALTI
WA LA REFNE ZULEH

YEH YEH YEH YEH
I want to fly!!!...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "I Want to Fly" by עפרה חזה express the desire to escape and soar freely, but also convey feelings of apprehension and vulnerability. The singer likens their eyes to those of a bird, implying a sense of fragility and timidity. They recognize that flying is risky and that luck is necessary to succeed, but still yearn for the freedom it offers. The repetition of "HO TON WACHALO" highlights the importance of this luck and the uncertainty that comes with attempting to fly.

The song also touches on the Hina ceremony, a traditional Moroccan Jewish celebration that involves decorating the hands of brides and grooms with henna. The lines "HORIM SHORIM MIT RONANYIM / HO TON WACHALO OHAVIM" suggest that the ceremony is currently taking place and that everyone is enjoying it. The singer acknowledges the event but still wishes to fly away and leave it behind, suggesting that they may feel confined or restricted by tradition or societal expectations.

 Ofra Haza
Oh sweet sweet Rose of Sharon
God's wonderful Beloved Daughter
of Israel
Such beauty and love unfurled
when You blossomed in our world.

You spread love everywhere
reaching out in tender care.
For no rose can compare
To the Rose that blossomed there

What an amazing singer!!
I found out about her when I first heard ''I'm Nin Alu''.... I was SO hooked, I bought 'Shaday' straight away. What a fantastic album!

I was heartbroken when I heard that she had died... She still had a LOT to give the world. May she be in peace!
