Oblivion
•Lacuna Coil Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's a fairy tale, and the story's out of date
Nothing that I have or try to say
Know that that the road is lonely
I will need some help
Know that this life is crazy
I will need some help

There's a place far below
The darkness deep within
It's a place I don't belong
Come set me free from this oblivion

On the side of me
On the edge of agony
Nothing left for me that I can fake

You know that the road is lonely
I will need some help
You know that this life is crazy
I will need some help

There's a place far below
The darkness deep within
It's a place I don't belong
Come set me free from this oblivion

It's a fairy tale, and the story's out of date
Nothing that I have or try to say
And I... I keep wondering away
I'm so deep in disarray
I keep wondering

There's a place far below
The darkness deep within
It's a place I don't belong
Come set me free, set me free

I keep wondering (set me free)
I keep wondering (set me free)
I keep wondering (set me free. Come set me free, set me free)

I keep wondering (Set me free)

I keep wondering (Set me free)
I keep wondering (Come set me free from this oblivion)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Lacuna Coil's song Oblivion speak about feeling lost and disconnected from the world around them. At the start of the song, the lyrics acknowledge that their story is "out of date", which could be interpreted as feeling like they don't belong in the world as it currently is. The singer then expresses a need for help and acknowledges that life can be crazy, and they can't manage it alone.

The chorus brings up the idea of a dark place deep within, something that the singer doesn't belong in but is unable to escape from. This could possibly represent depression or feeling lost in a dark place emotionally. The repetition of the phrase "set me free" towards the end of the song emphasizes the longing to escape from this emotional burden.

Overall, the lyrics of Oblivion tell a story of feeling lost and disconnected from the world, and seeking help to escape a dark place within themselves. The song's atmospheric music with its heavy guitar riffs and haunting vocals effectively reinforce the theme of emotional pain and the desire for freedom from it.

I feel the same, brother!

@strange.person

I'm tired of people saying they became more pop. People, they won't always have the same sound!

@strange.person

You're right, as if changing their sounds make them worse bands.

@M-DIY

Strange Person listen to delirium, it is their heaviest rock!

@bapaco8

This song translates what I'm feeling these days. I'll love this band forever. They always have something to say even though it's "the worst album" as some fans say.🖤

@Hailstorm273

Shallow Life was the first Lacuna Coil album I ever heard. I loved it at the start but it did get weaker with every other album I heard from them. That said, I love this song.

@evelynsmith7200
