Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We'll paint it red to fit right in
Whoa

I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age

Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons sets the tone for the rest of the song. The imagery of waking up to "ash and dust" suggests a post-apocalyptic world. The singer then wipes off his sweat, which is now rust due to the environment, and breathes in the chemicals. This could be a commentary on the current state of the world and how humans are poisoning the environment.

The chorus, "Welcome to the new age," suggests that we have entered a new era in which we have to adapt to survive. The singer raises his flags and dons his clothes, ready to take part in this revolution. The lyrics "we'll paint it red to fit right in" could be interpreted as a nod to the destructive nature of humanity. The second verse has the singer shaping up and checking out on a prison bus, indicating that he's tired of being trapped and is trying to break free. The chorus is repeated, reinforcing the idea that we have to embrace the new age and adapt to survive.

Overall, "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons is a powerful, anthemic song that warns against the dangers of destroying the environment and the need for adaptation in a new world. It's a reminder that we need to take better care of our planet and ourselves before it's too late.

In the dark
And I’m right on the middle mark
I’m just in the tier of everything that rides below the surface
And I watch from a distance seventeen
And I’m short of the others dreams of being golden and on top
It’s not what you painted in my head
There’s so much there instead of all the colors that I saw

We all are living in a dream,
But life ain’t what it seems
Oh everything’s a mess
And all these sorrows I have seen
They lead me to believe
That everything’s a mess

But I wanna dream
I wanna dream
Leave me to dream

In the eyes
Of a teenage crystallized
Oh the prettiest of lights that hang the hallways of the home
And the cries from the strangers out at night
They don’t keep us up at night
We have the curtains drawn and closed

We all are living in a dream,
But life ain’t what it seems
Oh everything’s a mess
And all these sorrows I have seen
They lead me to believe
That everything’s a mess

But I wanna dream
I wanna dream
Leave me to dream

I know all your reasons
To keep me from seeing
Everything is actually a mess
But now I am leaving
All of us were only dreaming
Everything is actually a mess

We all are living in a dream
But life ain’t what it seems
Oh everything’s a mess
And all these sorrows I have seen
They lead me to believe
That everything’s a mess

But I wanna dream
I wanna dream
Leave me to dream

I wanna dream
I wanna dream
Leave me to dream

This song soothes my pain... Let me tell you what I mean:

For the past few years, I've been struggling. Depression doesn't seem to go away as much as I hope it to. I work hard on changing my outlook on life, and how I view this world and myself. I try to change what I feel inside. And I've come to terms with the fact that I'm broken. It's not a bad thing, but it's not a good thing. I know who I am, but I don't know where to go from here either...

Im still trying... God, I'm tired of trying... But I know the only other alternative to stop trying is giving up. And now, there is a constant war in my head between myself and my depression. I fight it every day. Each day brings a different outcome. A different victory. I don't want to lose to it, so I'll always push back. But it seems the harder I push back, the more it reappears...

Im terrified. So so much. But I'm not giving up. I can't. Because if I give up, then... Well... The worst could happen... And I can't let that come about... I often think about what would happen if I just gave in... If I just let my depression get the best of me overall... And I still continue to fight these thoughts. These demons. These nightmares. These dreams.

This song helps me more than anyone would ever know. Right now, we're all living in a dream. And one day, I'll wake up. Whether that means I win or my depression does, one day I'll wake with different eyes and a different mind, and maybe even a different heart... So I have to keep fighting... I can't risk that... I can't risk losing... I have to keep dreaming

This song is forever one of my most favorite songs ever. And these guys are just incredible. I love them so much.

Every time i listen to this song i start immediately crying. It’s so emotional and when you hear Dan's voice, singing: "and all these sorrows i have seen...." it gives you goosebumps and you can feel the pain when his voice cracks.

And this is why i love Imagine Dragons. You can find yourself in their songs, in the lyrics, you can feel the pain, the happiness, the anger, the despair, the power, the fear, the excitement and other emotions with them. Because they play and sing what they really feel not what most of the would thinks (like most of today's songs).

You can relate to them, to their songs and emotions and their beautiful personalities. This song helps me in the hard times, it really does, as much as the other ID songs. Every time i hear it, it reminds me that i’m not the only one who feels horrible, i know that times will get better.

I love you guys
