Yes! It's a music representation of how chaotic the labyrinth of her mind really is. The over thinking, trying to overcome trauma when it feels impossible to bounce back. Even though the people in your life are trying their hardest to make you smile, you still have crippling anxiety. I have not resonated this quickly to a song before. I personally don’t get the hate this song gets. Taylor’s vocals were outstanding here and I feel like the chaos of the rhythm blended with the lyrics makes total sense because of the many thoughts she gets in the middle of the night that can be too much, which leads me to understand her and relate to her because overthinking is something I can’t escape from. Hence, the title (Labyrinth) coming in very handy and it makes me consider this song as the very essence of the album because it’s basically the main theme and message she’s trying to share with us.

2:09 “You would break your back to make me break a smile” is one of the saddest lines I’ve ever heard Taylor write. I could make a whole book about this one line, but I’ll make one small phrase about it — she needs to believe in herself and become happy again, because she deserves it.

Quite simply, one of the most breathtaking, poignant, romantic and a song with the capability of transporting you to a realm of perfect completion.The complexity of this auspicious centerpiece album has not even begun to be depicted, with her journey up to this point I feel, being found in these cathartic outpourings.
Midnights to me is her collecting all of our experiences with her to date so far and having us all meet on this collective record of reflection and the page that comes after. It is the highest gift that she as prolific as she is and with the unmatched flair of interrelating words to tie us all together can entrust onto us. Lines "It only hurts this much right now" "I thought the plane was going down, how'd you turn it right around"...Says it all 🎑

That "oh uh I am falling in love", "oh no I am falling love" sounds like she doesn't want to fall in love but she fell for it anyway. It is one of the beautiful part in the song but also hurts at the same time. I loved how it is expressed in this song( painful but soothing). Very contradicting.

Recently I'm developing feelings for my friend, and the last time I fell in love, I got rejected. I feel scared of falling in love again.
This song is a masterpiece!! Tysm Taylor for making this. I didn't know I needed this song until I heard it yesterday.
Probably one of my favorites off the whole album.
- Edit February 1st 2023: It's official guys!!!!! He rejected me.
- Edit March 2nd 2024: i "fell in love again" and the guy "turned the plane around" and said he likes me back. thank you taylor, i finally relate to this song again 😭😭

This outro is probably one of my favourites ever, I love how she's repeating the "Oh oh, I'm falling in love. Oh no, I'm falling in love... thought the plane was going down how'd you turn it right around" over and over and how with every repetition it breaks down and distorts more and more and then the "You know how much I hate" quietly repeating and echoing in the background. It's so beautiful and indescribable how much heart, soul and thought went into making this record.

This sounds so much like The Archer, from the instrumental to the lyrics...except it's a bit more hopeful. The Archer never had a beat drop because she wanted to capture the feeling of anxiety; you're waiting for it to end but it never does. The minute i heard this song i just knew...it's like a sequel to The Archer where the girl finally gets her beat drop. She falls in love with the right person and she's finally learning to cope with her anxiety. Taylor is such a mastermind, i love her for this!
