Sunday
● Hurts Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There are times when we question the things we know?
Never thought that the cracks will begin to show
We both know love is not that easy
I wish I'd known that it would be this hard to be alone.
Please, come home!

Loveless nights, they seem so long
I know that I'll hold you someday.
But till you come back where you belong
It's just another lonely Sunday.

Is this the end of the love that had just began?
I always hope that the best it was yet to come.
Please, come back, don't you leave me
We both so young, I know you need me too.
And there'll always be times like these.

Loveless nights, they seem so long
I know that I'll hold you someday.
But till you come back where you belong
It's just another lonely Sunday.

Maybe we'll see that we were wrong
If ever we look back one day
But till you come back where you'll belong
It's just another lonely Sunday.

Lonely, lonely.

If you don't come back tomorrow
I'll be left here in the cold
If you don't come back tomorrow, I'll go

Loveless nights, they seem so long
I know that I'll hold you someday.
But till you come back where you belong
It's just another lonely Sunday.

Maybe we'll see that we were wrong
If ever we look back one day
But till you come back where you'll belong
It's just another lonely Sunday.
Lonely, lonely.

Lonely Sunday

Overall Meaning

The song "Sunday" by the British synth-pop duo, Hurts, is a heart-wrenching ballad that delves into the pain and loneliness of a relationship that has come to an end. The lyrics are about a man who is desperately longing for his estranged lover to come home to him, but knows that it may be too late to save their relationship. The song is a cathartic reflection on the difficulties of love and how it can leave one feeling hollow and alone.

Throughout the song, the singer is questioning the things he thought he knew about love, as he faces the consequences of his past mistakes. The cracks in the relationship have begun to show and the two partners are struggling to find their way back to one another. The line "Loveless nights, they seem so long, I know that I'll hold you someday" encapsulates the longing and pain that the singer is feeling.

The chorus is a poignant repetition of the phrase "Loveless nights, they seem so long, I know that I'll hold you someday, but till you come back where you belong, it's just another lonely Sunday." This speaks to the idea that even though the singer knows deep down that the relationship may be over, he is still holding out hope that his lover will return to him. This hope is what keeps him going through the long, lonely nights and the endless Sundays that follow.

Overall, the song Sunday is a powerful ode to the complexity of love and the pain that comes with it. It is a reminder that even when love becomes difficult and painful, the hope and desire for someone to come home and make everything right again will never truly fade away.

I wish we had more doctors like her. A doctor with good bedside manners and listening skills.

@aria6596

Seriously. Doctors are such narcissistic know it all’s.

@youthought878

It’s rare to be really book smart and people smart. That’s why the number of doctors who are this professional is so limited. Sad, but it’s just the truth.

@pocktgobln

One sentence from ONE doctor got me straight back into my eating disorder. Fully knowing I had issues with disordered eating.

What I really appreciate about this show is that it has given Dr. Lee the platform to offer her services to those who would normally not be able to afford them since most are strictly cosmetic. TLC has the money to fly patients in from all over for treatment, and she's able to change lives because of it--well done! :D

@FrozenMermaid666

There is a huge difference between term misuse and having 'good manners' and, one can be nice to others without misusing my big terms sweetie or Princess / Lady etc or special or other big terms and big compIiments such as wonderful etc that only reflect me -- while humans are the exact opposite of such terms (she misused all those big terms in other videos, and 2 of them in this video, and she even compared the grouhsness that came out of the patients' pimples/cysts etc with food such as 'little cookies' and hummus in certain videos, which is beyond ofnsv to food and can totally ruin those foods for others) and, destroying/plucking beautiful flowers to misuse as 'decorations' for her office is also beyond wrong/kreeminaI and soon to be banned!

@FrozenMermaid666

Plucking flowers and destroying trees are one of the most kreeminaI actions humans could do -- flowers/plants and trees are living beings/organisms who exist for their own reasons and they are not a 'decoration' or anything like that, and they belong in nature, not in humans' office, and, the destruction of flowers/trees/plants is soon to be banned, while those that destroyed flowers/trees/plants etc are to be severeIy punshd!

@FrozenMermaid666

The fact that these famous doctors etc are being overly 'nice' to their patients to the point of big term misuse (which is a cheap/wrong tactic they use to zeII them a product or keep them interested in being a patient by ekspIoiting their narsism, where they say exaggerated and clearly untrue things such as big compIiments/big terms etc to their patients that they clearly don't even mean and that do not reflect their patients or other humans) should be enough proof for humans to realise that they aren't 'caring' and they aren't genuine at all -- they are simply saying what they know/think those humans want to hear in order to gain something from them...
