This was my Mom and my song. We’d belt it at the top of our lungs with the windows down in the car during her final year after battling cancer for four years.

And the night we palliatively sedated her in hospice, I played it for her one last time. And as I held her crying I felt like it was me singing it to her that it was okay to go. And her singing to me that she didn’t want to and preparing me for her departure.

And 5:55am on August 5, 2013, right as the Daylight came over the lake, my mom passed away.

And for four years after her four year battle with cancer I struggled for never expressing my hurt and pain from our life and not forgiving myself for not changing my life around willingly and joyfully to care for her.

This year,
I have finally embraced the journey of forgiveness of her and myself. And I have never felt more capable of love and who I am.

For 28 years I was so afraid of becoming my mother. Now I am proud to be my mothers daughter.

So, I am celebrating my 30th Birthday this weekend and her life. Because I won’t be where I am without during her life on earth and after she passed.

So, thank you.

Thank you for writing this song and making this video.

I helped prepare and lead me to healing. And gave me great memories of singing at the top of our lungs in my grandpas old, beat up Cadillac with the wind combing through our hair on highway 694.

I think that we need more songs like this in the world, songs that talk about the real problems, not just partying and drinking and smoking, because its songs like this that can send a positive message, and that will have a good influence on people.

We don't need more songs that stereotype, or judge, or insult/misrepresent people. That's why I love songs like this, because they can lift up your spirits especially when you listen to the lyrics more carefully.

(Not saying that all other songs are crap because I love all genres and sometimes you need a good random song that doesn't really make sense lol and they can help too, these are the ones that give me, hope I guess, and it reminds me that this is why I like to be optimistic and stuff, sorry for the rant lol but I hope that it is the same for all of you too! :)

It's the saddest thing, that people feel this way. Depression. Suicidal. Like no one cares. They feel hated. It makes me feel horrible. I was one of them. I've gotten through it. And, I think these people, and many others, are strong. In sharing their stories. In telling the world how they feel. Many people are so judge mental and pessimistic, they'd ignore the sadness and say some stupid things. But. I think this is one of the greatest videos ever. They took videos from other fans and turn it into a music video. All the videos are about being yourself, learn to love yourself and others. It teaches us to stay positive. It teaches us not to be judgemental. They took videos from fand from around the world. Avoiding racism. I'm impressed. Seriously Maroon 5, even if now it's 2020, you seriously change many of people's view. And great effort for all this. Stay positive, shine like the daylight.

4 years and 2 days ago, on Christmas eve night, my beloved grandmother passed away in a hospital bed. My grandpa called us about a week before explaining that she had been rushed to the hospital, and so we drove 8 hours to the hospital and stayed in the area. Me, my mom, dad, brother, uncle, and grandpa, all were staying at my grandpa's house and trying to make the best of it. We were laughing and joking and dancing to music, enjoying each other and celebrating Christmas eve when my grandpa got the call that she probably wouldn't make it through the night. My dad, grandpa, uncle and brother went to the hospital, while my mom and I stayed at the hotel, because I was just 12 years old. I heard the phone ring from the living room, and my heart sank because I knew who was calling and why. It was my dad calling to let us know she had passed. In her memory, I like to come back to this song and sing along because it reminds me of her, and of what we lost when she was gone. This is just a reminder to go hug your loved ones a little tighter, regardless of whether you get along great or not, because you never know when you're gonna lose those people or yourself. Please remember to be kind, to say I love you to those you love, and to be grateful for what you have. Because you never what will happen come daylight.
