Faint
✔ Linkin Park Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I am a little bit of loneliness, a little bit of disregard
Handful of complaints but I can't help the fact
That everyone can see these scars
I am what I want you to want, what I want you to feel
But it's like no matter what I do, I can't convince you
To just believe this is real
So I, let go watching you turn your back like you always do
Face away and pretend I'm not
But I'll be here 'cause you're all that I've got

I can't feel the way I did before
Don't turn your back on me
I won't be ignored
Time won't heal this damage anymore
Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored

I am, a little bit insecure, a little unconfident
'Cause you don't understand I do what I can
But sometimes I don't make sense
I am, what you never want to say, but I've never had a doubt
It's like no matter what I do I can't convince you for once just to hear me out
So I, let go watching you turn your back like you always do
You face away and pretend I'm not
But I'll be here 'cause you're all that I've got

I can't feel the way I did before
Don't turn your back on me
I won't be ignored
Time won't heal this damage anymore
Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored

You hear me out now
You're gonna listen to me like it or not
Right now, hear me out now
You're gonna listen to me like it or not
Right now

I can't feel the way I did before
Don't turn your back on me
I won't be ignored
Time won't heal this damage anymore
Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored

I can't feel the way I did before
Don't turn your back on me
I won't be ignored
Time won't heal this damage anymore
Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored

I can't feel the way I did before
Don't turn your back on me
I won't be ignored

Time won't heal this damage anymore
Don't turn your back on me I won't be ignored

Overall Meaning

The song "Faint" by Linkin Park is about feeling insignificant and disregarded by someone you care about deeply. The lyrics describe the singer's insecurity and frustration as they try to get the attention and validation they crave from the person they are addressing. The lines "I am what I want you to want, what I want you to feel / But it's like no matter what I do, I can't convince you / To just believe this is real" illustrate the desperation and helplessness of the situation.

The chorus of the song is a plea to the person not to "turn their back" on the singer and to acknowledge their feelings. The repetition of the lines "I can't feel the way I did before / Don't turn your back on me / I won't be ignored / Time won't heal this damage anymore" emphasizes the singer's need to be heard and understood.

In the bridge of the song, the singer becomes more forceful and demands that the person listen to them: "You're gonna listen to me like it or not / Right now, hear me out now / You're gonna listen to me like it or not / Right now". The song ends on a final plea, with the singer begging the person not to ignore them.

Overall, "Faint" by Linkin Park is a powerful exploration of the struggle to be seen and heard in a relationship. The lyrics are filled with pain and frustration, but also a sense of determination to be understood.

This album is so awesome. Every song fits perfectly.
I love how on this song Mike is just dissing on the old fans and telling them to "catch up" and grow up and stuff, then Chester comes on and says
"Oh, when they come for me
Come for me, I'll be gone."
In an amazing voice and then projects louder and louder then the dope chorus comes on
"And all the people say
Aah, aah, aah,
Try to catch up motherfucker!"
So epic! :)
Makes me smile everytime

This is probably the most underrated song on this album. Everyone seems to like Wretches and Kings and forgets about this one. There is really no other song even remotely like this. Rock + electronic + tribal beat + rap = 100% unique Linkin Park awesomeness

@RusticKey

The live performance for this is absolutely flawless, the energy in Chester's chant is just so powerful.

@callbigg

Still one of my favorite songs 💙💙

Linkin Park built my childhood, in adulthood when I need them most, Chester's legacy rebuilding me. Miss you Chester

It's amazing how his songs take on a whole different meaning after knowing everything surrounding him. "Oh when they come for me I'll be gone" and "try to catch up mother fucker". Think about the hide and seek games these cabal played with the children as they tortured them.
