The amazing thing is to see so many people playing the flight of the bumblebee just to show speed and technical skills while people like Horowitz show how subtle it has to be played to be this enjoyable.

@TheTaimory1

Yuja wang plays it just as good, if not better.

@TheTaimory1

+xakoviski it still has major similarities so it doesn't really matter... a transcription will not change the fact that she plays it lighter and faster.

@zeroorder2153

Frédéric François Chopin :/ I mean if you practice something enough speed comes naturally .-.

@mactire8557

@Akam T no she just plays it fast, Horowitz's tone, phrasing, colour and technique is far better

@nihilistlemon1995

@Akam T A transcription can change a lot of stuff since it has different notes . And faster doesn't mean better . As for the lighter argument , different recordings ? Still Horowitz does much more phrasing than Yuja Wang , but that's because Rach's transcription allows it while Cziffra's is more like a show off .

I saw Horowitz play twice. The most unusual thing about his playing was how much dynamic control he had at soft volumes, even at speed. There would be ten levels between p and pp and he controlled all of them in real time. (I didn’t count 10, I’m just approximating what it was like.)

@DusanHoly

His piano had extremely light touch / weight of keys.

Horowitz's playing is of this piece is so clear, you can hear every note, I'm sure if he wanted to he could play it faster, but he believes this is the correct speed. I would say the exact same thing about a live recording of Jascha Heifetz playing this piece in the early 40s.

@fridgnetha

This is my all-time favorite piece. I ahve heard numerous students play it, without emotion or tempo and everyone says they're amazing. This man stalked bees in order to play this, so if those peoplea re amazing, then this guys is God.
