Yes, I think so too - although I wonder if you've seen the Herod in the original, 1973 movie!?
There's a lot more physicality and energy in this
rendition, and that keeps it interesting!

I have to confess, I am an obsessed fan of Superstar as well as Andrew Lloyd Weber, Tim Rice, and on and on and on!! I have converted more than one person to my side lol if you have the passion and love of music and art and emotion...............a lifetime supply!!!

Haha. Fred Johanson, who was Pilate in the version you're referring to, was in Les Miserables as well.... but I think they were in different productions.

I vacillated between like and dislike, and landed on the side of like. I really think this is a fun interpretation of what is arguably the best number in JCS. Though in my head, Herod is Elvis, not Richard Simmons (showing my age here).

Absolute best version I've ever seen or heard. The timing and singing are so bad in all the others. That includes the original album, film versions, etc. Though I do understand the timing thing to an extent; the lyrics were kind of crammed in to fit the music. It's a rather awkward song to sing, I think.
