From there she gained more public exposure; she released her debut single Level 42 in June 2004, which was featured on Saku Saku as its ending theme. Her debut album KAELA followed in December of the same year. Her fanbase grew considerably after her third single リルラ リルハ, which was used in a series of Vodafone commercials in Japan and made Kaela a household name.
Kaela's third studio album Scratch, released in February 2007, is her most successful so far, spending two consecutive weeks at number 1 on the Oricon charts and selling over 360,000 copies.
In 2009, Kaela released her fifth studio album, Hocus Pocus. Butterfly, a promotional song off the album, became Kaela's biggest hit. It was certified Million by the RIAJ in both ringtones and cellphone downloads, and Double Platinum in PC downloads.
In 2011, Kaela released her sixth studio album and first since her marriage to actor 瑛太 (Eita) and the birth of her first child, 8EIGHT8, which peaked atop the charts, making it her second album to do so, since Scratch.

Show me now
You, it's time to prevail
Mail
Feel me 耳で
You, it's time to prevail
電波ん乗って let you know
The song "Phone" by Kaela Kimura is about the difficulty of communication in modern relationships. The lyrics describe the frustration of waiting for a phone call, the awkwardness of face-to-face interactions, and the limitations of texting and email. The singer expresses her desire to connect with her partner on a deeper level, to share her true feelings and emotions. She acknowledges the fear and anxiety that can make communication difficult, but encourages her partner to take the risk and reach out to her. Ultimately, the song is a plea for honesty, vulnerability, and genuine human connection.
One interesting fact about the song is that it was written and sung entirely in Japanese, but it was inspired by American pop music. Kaela Kimura is known for blending Japanese and Western musical styles, and "Phone" is a great example of this hybrid approach. Another fun fact is that the music video for the song features Kimura and her bandmates performing on a revolving platform, surrounded by flashing lights and digital effects. The video reflects the theme of the song by emphasizing the disconnect between people in a technological world.
