Her singing career as the unrivaled "Dance Queen" began in May 1987 with the release of her first album, New Season. She differed from many other female Idol Singers in Japan in that she wrote her own lyrics and some music for her albums. She also played drums on most of the tracks, as well as piano, clarinet, and other instruments. Her advertising jingles were hits into the mid 1990s in television commercials for such goods as chocolate and gin. She has also made numerous appearances on Japanese game and talent shows and is still a household name. In twelve years after her debut she released seventeen albums and created a cult following of otaku fanboys.
Some say that she displaced Yoko Oginome as the reigning "Dance Queen" of the mid to late 1980's. Yoko's singing career faded as Chisato's rose and endured far longer.

The lyrics to 森高千里's song 見て (Mite - Look at Me) are an appeal to the listener to truly see and understand the singer. She begins by lamenting that she is still not good enough despite being seen, due to being riddled with mistakes and misunderstandings. The singer acknowledges that the listeners' interest in her is appreciated but that it comes with unwanted interference. She cannot say this clearly to them, though, and asks them to understand that it is a dilemma - she is grateful for their attention but it is also cumbersome.
The second verse then decries the lack of objective observation - they are mistaken because they jump to conclusions and there is no thorough observation to back up their judgment. The singer invites them to experience it from her perspective or to look at her more closely. The bridge returns to the theme of the listeners' uninvited meddling that reveals an underlying issue - the ones who tend to be critical or condescending of her are often the ones who have insecurities of their own. The singer is exasperated by this manipulation and asks them to stop looking at themselves and to listen to her instead.
Overall, the song is a plea for genuine understanding and attention. The singer is saying that it is not enough just to look at her, but that they must look beyond their assumptions and really see her. The lyrics also suggest that it is a two-way street - the listeners should be objective and the singer should be honest about their relationship.

13:13 Sounds like something you'd hear in a shopping mall, or a game when picking out clothes for your character. Idk how to describe it but that's what I think of and now I can't unhear it
Mann Dann
Yeah, now I can see that too
