She and Komuro became lovers, however, it was not meant to be, as much gossip surrounded the couple in the late 90s, including rumors of drug abuse and hard partying went rampant in Japanese tabloids. In 1999, she released her first non-TK produced album, "One Fine Day". She continued to release music, but she never quite reached the mainstream success she once had. During this period, she also made two adult photobooks (both of which sold quite well) and acted in musicals touring all over Japan.
In 2007, Tomomi was fired from her talent agency, who cited "unreliability" and "health problems" as main factors contributing to her leave. In January 2009, Kahala was hospitalized for tranquilizer abuse. As of 2010, it was unclear whether or not Tomomi will return to the music industry - however, Kahala made her return in 2012 with a much-talked about performance on Japanese television of her classic, "I'm proud". In 2013, she released her first single in seven years, a cover of the Les Misérables standard, "I Dreamed a Dream". It reached 13 on the Oricon charts, marking her first single to hit the top 20 in 9 years.

getting better
We are getting better,
getting better
We are getting better,
getting better
We are getting better,
every morning
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
このごろ最近ベットから
おちないで 朝がくる
仕事にもおくれない
髪の毛も うるおってる
ところでこのごろ 街や人
ふざけてる しらけてる
私のためになってるのか
どっちでも かまわなくなっている
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
いいことは 続けたい
悪いこと くりかえさない
交差点をわたったら
またひとつ 大人になってゆく
つまずいたり ころんだり
とりかえし とりもどし
あなたと今日も電話で
今日の日を報告しなくちゃ
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
We are getting better,
every morning
Getting better,every night
The lyrics to 華原朋美's song Every morning are about personal growth and self-improvement. The chorus repeats the phrase "We are getting better" over and over, emphasizing the idea that with every passing day, the subject of the song is improving and growing as a person. The verses touch on different aspects of this growth - waking up early, keeping up with work, and staying positive despite the negative energy of people and the city.
The first verse talks about the struggle of waking up early and keeping up with work, but also mentions that the subject's hair looks healthy and moisturized (うるおってる). The second verse touches on the idea of making good choices and not repeating past mistakes, as well as overcoming obstacles and getting back up after falling down. The pre-chorus talks about becoming more mature and crosses the street (交差点をわたったら).
Overall, the song's message is one of hope and persevering through life's challenges, pushing oneself to become a better person every day.
