With much success in the Hong Kong music industry, Sammi became one of Hong Kong's pop divas. She also has a successful film career, particularly in the romantic comedy genre. Her goofy, sometimes scatterbrained image went over well with Chinese audiences. In 2000 she made a series of romantic comedies with singer/actor 劉德華 and director Johnnie To, including Needing You (2000) and Love on a Diet (2001), which were hits and incorporate some elements of screwball comedy.

QING FANG XIN
Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
The lyrics to 鄭秀文's song "QING FANG XIN" convey a sense of frustration and exhaustion in a romantic relationship. The singer implores her partner not to come back and play games or make jokes, as she questions the presence of love in their connection. She wonders if she will continue to wait for them despite moving on and finding new love interests. The singer expresses the difficulty of being in love with someone who only relies on her for happiness, and she hints at her wavering commitment to the relationship, suggesting that she doesn't need to put in the effort if her partner is not willing to give her a second of their time. In the end, she asks her partner to stop seeking happiness from her and reassures them that she no longer needs to focus on their love, as it is causing more harm than good.
