MINHO released his SM STATION single, "I'm Home" on March 28, 2019, marking his first music release as a soloist. The single was released after MINHO previewed it on his first fan meeting tour Best Choi's MINHO, visiting 4 different cities throughout 5 dates, spreading through February and March of 2019.
After completing his mandatory military service in November 2020, MINHO resumed his activities as a soloist and member of SHINee in 2021, releasing his debut solo digital single "Heartbreak" on December 21, the same day as his second fan meeting concert Best Choi's MINHO 2021, which was broadcasted online. MINHO performed the song at the SMTOWN LIVE 2022 : SMCU EXPRESS @KWANGYA New Year's Eve online concert, as well as a special stage on MCountdown on January 13, 2022. The song was later featured on his first mini album CHASE.
In May 2022, MINHO held the SHINee World J Presents "Best Choi's MINHO" 2022 fan meeting tour with 2 dates in Japan, performing his upcoming debut Japanese singles "Romeo and Juliet" and "Falling Free". They were subsequently released on August 24.
On December 6, 2022, MINHO released his debut solo mini album titled CHASE, coming nearly 15 years after his debut with SHINee. The music video for the title track "Chase" and the physical album were later released on December 12. The album features guest appearances from GEMINI and Lim Kim. Described as "the last piece of the puzzle", the album concludes the famous SHINee "plagiarism series", started by TAEMIN's ACE, continued by JONGHYUN's BASE, KEY's FACE, ONEW's VOICE, and now finalized by MINHO's very own CHASE. He made the debut performance of the title track, as well as some songs from the album, on his fourth fan meeting concert 2022 Best Choi's MINHO - Lucky Choi's that was held on December 7 and 8.
