On October 31, 2019, Starship Entertainment announced Wonho's departure from Monsta X following allegations surrounding him. Following the conclusion of the investigation and with his name cleared of allegations, Wonho signed with Highline Entertainment, a subsidiary of Starship Entertainment, as a solo artist. The agency announced that he would be promoting as a solo artist and producer going forward.
Wonho announced the release of his first solo album, Love Synonym Pt.1: Right for Me, which was released on September 4, 2020. Before the full release of the album, Wonho had a pre-release single, an English-language track, "Losing You," released August 14, accompanied by a music video, aside from the vocal, Wonho participated in the songwriting, composing and producing of the song.
