Drown
Limp Bizkit Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's getting closer to the end, every part of me
Then disaster takes its toll and now I'm left with only me
Maybe sorrow plays a role when you feel unkind
Your abuses matter, standing up forever lost in time

Save me, save me before I drown
Save me, save me before I drown
It's getting closer to the end, I look back and smile
We conquered every single bump in my road, made it all worthwhile
Just remember how I cared when it came crashing down
I'd like to toast to all those angels that were always hanging 'round

Save me, save me before I drown
Save me, save me before I drown, drown
Oh, oh

Maybe life ain't what it seems, 'cause it's all a dream
Forgive me

Sometimes I feel like a fool 'cause I'm so uncool
Forgive me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Drown" by Limp Bizkit reflect a sense of urgency and desperation from the singer. The opening lines, "It's getting closer to the end, every part of me, then disaster takes its toll and now I'm left with only me" indicate a feeling of impending doom, as if something catastrophic is about to happen. The following lines suggest that the singer may attribute their sorrow to personal flaws or mistakes ("Maybe sorrow plays a role when you feel unkind, your abuses matter, standing up forever lost in time"). The chorus, with its repeated plea for salvation, highlights the sense of fear and hopelessness the singer is experiencing.

However, it's not all doom and gloom. The second verse reflects on the past with a sense of nostalgia and appreciation. The line "We conquered every single bump in my road, made it all worthwhile" suggests that despite the challenges, the singer is able to find meaning and purpose in their life. They express gratitude for the people who have supported them, with the line "I'd like to toast to all those angels that were always hanging 'round."

The final lines of the song, "Maybe life ain't what it seems, 'cause it's all a dream, forgive me / Sometimes I feel like a fool 'cause I'm so uncool, forgive me" express a sense of self-reflection and vulnerability. The singer may feel uncertain about the meaning or purpose of their life, and may feel inadequate in comparison to others. The repeated plea for forgiveness suggests a desire for acceptance and understanding.

Results may vary is a highly underrated album. Sure Wes was gone, but there were a lot of amazing songs on the album, showing off Freds range. He isn't the best rapper but he has bars, and his singing voice is surprisingly good. I love this song. It had deep personal meaning to me then, and it still does today.

I can't believe how underated this album is.

Chris Strickland

Absolutely. It's such a shame. Mainly because Wes left those stubborn fans didn't want anything to do with it. Well they missed out on a great album.

This song is so good. Brings a tear to my eye. Their serious stuff was always so much better than the rap-metal stuff

this song may be depressing, but it is a masterfully beautiful creation of feeling that we can all relate to at some point in our lives. R.I.P Limp Bizkit of the early days. THEY USED TO BE SO DAMN GOOD
