Moon River
Louis Armstrong Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
The song Moon River, performed by Louis Armstrong, speaks of a journey across a river. The river in the song is compared to the moon, which is a frequently used motif in poetry and literature. The river is described as being wider than a mile and the singer says he will cross it in style someday. The imagery of crossing the river in style has been interpreted by some as the singer's desire to achieve his dreams in a grand manner, without taking shortcuts or settling for anything less than he deserves.
The song then speaks of a dream maker, who is also a heart breaker. The dream maker is someone who creates dreams and aspirations for people but also has the power to break them. The singer states that wherever this dream maker is going, he is going as well, suggesting that he is willing to follow his dreams no matter where they lead him. The song goes on to describe two drifters who are setting out to explore the world. They are both after the same rainbow's end, which is often used as a metaphor for happiness or success. The line "my huckleberry friend" is a term of endearment for a friend who is reliable and always there for you.

" Rio de luna "
Rio de luna, más ancho que una milla
Voy a cruzar contigo en estilo algún día
Viejo creador de sueños, tu rompe corazones
A donde sea que vayas, voy a tu camino.
Dos vagabundos, para ver el mundo
Hay un montón de mundo para ver
Estamos tras el mismo final de arcoíris,
esperando alrededor de la curva
Mi amigo arándano, rio de luna, y yo.

You guys can make it come back if you ask Radio stations to start playing it again. It is very good to hear young people say good things about this type of music. I have 5 grandchildren and I hope they all grow up and listen to this type of music. I am inspired by all the good young people of today. The problem is the bad ones get all the publicity and ruin it for all. May God bless you guys.

The one and only, the great Louis. All the words in the world are not enough to describe his sound.
