Come Undone
My Darkest Days Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mine, immaculate dream
Made of breath and skin
I've been waiting for you
Signed with a home tattoo
Happy birthday to you
Was created for you

I can't help but keep from falling apart
At the seams
I cannot believe they're taking my heart
Into pieces

Oh it might take a little time
Might take a little crime
To come undone now
We'll try to stay blind
To the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind, can blow me into cry

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone

Words
Play me deja vu
Like a radio tune
I swear I've heard before

She'll resist something real
Or the magic I'm feeding off your fingers

I can't help but keep from falling apart
At the seams
I cannot believe they're taking my heart
Into pieces

Lost
In a self filled sky
Might make it alright
To come undone now

We'll try to stay blind
To the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind, can blow me into cry

Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone
Who do you need?
Who do you love?
When you come undone

I can't help but keep from falling apart
At the seams (who do you need?)
I cannot believe they're taking my heart
Into pieces (who do you love?)
I can't help but keep from falling apart
At the seams (who do you love?)

I cannot believe they're taking my heart
When you come undone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to My Darkest Days' "Come Undone" describe the feeling of being in love and waiting for someone to complete and bring a dream to life. The "immaculate dream" is a manifestation of the singer's desire for someone who will make him feel complete. He cannot help but feel scared of falling apart at the seams when considering that he is putting his heart on the line for someone else. The lyrics hint that perhaps the relationship is not meant to be, or at least that there is an obstacle to be overcome before the dream can be fully realized.

The chorus of the song repeats the question "Who do you need? Who do you love?" The lyrics suggest that the singer is questioning his own feelings and motivations, as well as the feelings of the other person involved. The song also seems to hint at the idea that the singer may not be entirely sure whether the relationship is healthy or not, as he calls on the listener to "stay wilder than the wind" in order to avoid being influenced by the hope and fear outside. Overall, "Come Undone" is a reflection on the joys and complications of falling in love.

To stay blind to the hope and fear inside. That lyric hits hard as true love is bliss and no other emotional is as powerful. Most def one of the best covers ever!

I feel like this cover and this genre hits this song on the head PERFECTLY. It gives an extra layer of depth that was missing back then. This is very ethereal feeling and has an odd hollowness to it. Its beautiful.

I grew up singing along with the Duran Duran version of this song at the age of 6. It was a big radio hit at the time. It definitely shaped my taste in music for my entire life. Surreal to hear my childhood meet my modern taste in music in such an epic way!

@IsraelCountryCube

well cause apparently The Duran Duran version is the original I didnt even know that My Darkest days made a cover off of their song! I was amazed haha! yeah they Didnt do a better job thats descriditing their official writers. but they made their Own song but a cover of another song to not disrespect the original theyre both great simply put I just prefer this one neither of them are truly better. but I do listen to this one more I didnt like the other one as much because I thought this one was an only one but apprently not its a cover of another song.

@adayinforever

@@IsraelCountryCube The original version was awesome when I was 6! But I kinda like this version better as an adult.
