INFORMATION
MEG's first introduction to music was through piano, which she has played since childhood. At the age of 19 she auditioned for a record company singing BONNIE PINK's "It's Gonna Rain!" and passed. She made her indies debut in 2001 with the single "Kasa to Shizuku". It was around this time that she also began modelling for magazines like CUTiE and non-no.
In July 2002 MEG made her major label debut with the single "Scanty Blues", produced by Okamura Yasuyuki. Her second single was a cover of the song "Ikenai Kotokai". ("Kasa to Shizuku" was coupled with this single.) It is rumored that Okamura quit producing MEG after this single due to her attitude, but she did not give up. After the release of her third and fourth singles, her first album, "room girl", was released in July 2003.
In the summer of 2004 MEG started her own fashion brand called "Carolina Glaser by Cheryl", all of which was designed by MEG herself. MEG continues to broaden her horizons as a fashion director. And recently, her work in photography is highly regarded as well.
In January 2006 she changed the capitalization of her stagename from "meg" to "MEG," and on November 22nd, 2007 after a long break, MEG released her new album "Dithyrambos". It was downloaded in outstanding numbers from iTunes Store and ranked second in the electronic section. A few months later, MEG released her third album, "aquaberry," which was produced by i-dep.
Soon after, capsule's Nakata Yasutaka began producing MEG's singles, beginning with "Amai Zeitaku."
Her ninth single, OK along with her fourth album "BEAM", were her first after being signed to Universal Music Japan. Her newest album "STEP," was released a short six months after "BEAM", and was also produced by Nakata.
