My Gift To You
. Korn Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Laying by my precious
Not long ago
Hiding behind the shadows
Of your broken soul
Why is it always you and something you can never have?
Why did you you try to tell me?
How could you be this way
Your throat, I take grasp
Can you feel the pain?
Then your eyes roll back
Can you feel the pain?
Your racing through my veins
Can't you feel the pain?
Your heart stops beating
Can't you feel the pain
Like orgasms

Can't you feel the pain
I guess your life is dead
Can't you feel the pain
There you are my precious
With your broken soul

Forever my crotch take control
Why is it
You fuck up something you have always had
Why'd you try to tell me
How could you be so cold?
Your throat, I take grasp
Can you feel the pain?
Then your eyes roll back
Can you feel the pain?

Your racing through my veins
Can't you feel the pain?
Your heart stops beating
Can't you feel the pain
Like orgasms
Can't you feel the pain
I guess your life is dead
Can't you feel the pain
Here I am, just a man
Feeling the pain, gives me life
Relieving us is my plan

I'd anything to see through your eyes
Just to see through your lies
I hate you, Can you feel the pain?
Can't you feel the pain?
I hate you, Can you feel the pain?
Your throat, I take grasp

Can you feel the pain?
Then your eyes roll back
Can you feel the pain?
Your racing through my veins
Can't you feel the pain?
Your heart stops beating
Can't you feel the pain
Like orgasms
Can't you feel the pain

I guess your life is dead
Can't you feel the pain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Korn’s song My Gift To You are intense and dark, filled with anger and hate, pain and betrayal. The singer of the song is addressing a person with a broken soul, whom he refers to as “my precious” and “you.” The person has apparently messed up something they always had and is no longer able to feel the pain the singer is inflicting upon them.

The singer expresses his confusion and frustration over why this person always wants what they cannot have and why they have tried to tell him something that has hurt him deeply. He then takes control of the person’s throat, causing them physical pain, as they apparently seem numb to emotional pain. He wants to see through their eyes and lies, but ends up hating them more for causing him pain. Throughout the song, the singer repeatedly asks if they can feel the pain he is inflicting on them, depicting a twisted sense of pleasure in causing pain.

The song can be interpreted in many ways, but the most common interpretation is that the singer is addressing a former lover who has betrayed him. He wants revenge and is physically hurting the person to make them feel the pain he is feeling. The song is a violent and disturbing depiction of a broken relationship, displaying the dark and vengeful side of love.
