A perfect love, a dream come true
You jump right in, just couldn't wait
So sure this was the one, your true soulmate
Now you feel you so hurt, feel so betrayed
You finished up with nothing, for all the love you gave
No pain no gain, that's what they say
Still you dream, still you pretend
You'll find a love story with a happy end
Time will heal, the scars will fade
You'll soon be strong enough to go through it all again
Find the one, who'll make it right
Make you laugh all day, making love all night
Find the one, the one finds you
The perfect love, the dream come true
No pain no gain, that's what they say
That you're so tired of waiting, for the pain to go away
No pain no gain, no guaruntee
Is the one out there, or just a fantasy?
Time will heal, the tears will end
Then like a lamb to slaughter, you'll go through it all again
Find the one, the one finds you
The perfect love, a dream come true
The lyrics to 10000 Things' song "No Pain No Gain" explore the complexities of love and the pain that can come with it. The song tells the story of a person who falls deeply in love and believes they have found their soulmate. However, their partner later betrays them, leaving them feeling hurt and empty-handed. Despite this pain, the person still holds onto the hope of finding true love in the future, and believes that the saying "no pain no gain" applies to relationships just as much as it does to other aspects of life.
The lyrics touch on themes of resilience, hope, and the belief that true love is worth fighting for even in the face of heartbreak. The verses describe the rollercoaster of emotions that come with falling in love and facing the pain of betrayal. The chorus phrases "no pain no gain" and "you're so tired of waiting for the pain to go away" express the idea that love is not always easy but is ultimately worth the effort.
Interestingly, the song's structure and melody also reflect its themes. The verses have a more melancholy, introspective feel, reflecting the pain and uncertainty the person is experiencing. In contrast, the chorus is more upbeat and anthemic, featuring a repeated motif that emphasizes the message of "no pain no gain". The song ultimately strikes a balance between acknowledging the difficulties of love while still holding onto the hope that it can be worth the struggle.
