Sleep. Work. Drink. Smoke.
How do you feel?
They kill - you have your happy meal.

1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4,
Switch your brain off, turn on the TV,
Be prepared for the better life.
1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4,
Switch your brain off, do what they say.
Everything is gonna be just fine...

Earn. Spend. Hunger for more, more, more, more... Lend.
Stress. Have fun!
They kill - you wear.

1 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4,
Switch your brain off, lost in the Internet.
Login everywhere and stay online.
1 2 3 4, 1 2 !

Forward march! You should work harder!
Do your best to get the better life!

Overall Meaning

In the song "Simple" by 101 a.m., the lyrics highlight the mundane and robotic nature of modern life. The opening line, "Sleep. Work. Drink. Smoke," represents the repetitive cycle that many people find themselves trapped in. These activities serve as temporary distractions or coping mechanisms, but they ultimately do not address the underlying emotions and desires.

The line "How do you feel? They kill - you have your happy meal" reflects the idea that society often encourages superficial happiness and satisfaction through material possessions or quick fixes like fast food. It implies that consumerism and conformity can numb individuals and prevent them from truly examining their own feelings and needs.

The repetition of the counting sequence, "1 2 3 4," throughout the song emphasizes the mechanical and monotonous nature of daily life. The line "Switch your brain off, turn on the TV" suggests the tendency to escape from reality by tuning into mindless entertainment and avoiding deeper introspection.

The lyrics also touch upon the pressure to constantly strive for more wealth and success, as expressed through lines like "Earn. Spend. Hunger for more, more, more, more... Lend" and "Do your best to get the better life!" This reflects the societal expectation to constantly pursue material gain and achieve a certain standard of living, often at the expense of personal well-being and genuine fulfillment.

Overall, "Simple" critiques the numbing routine and external influences that prevent individuals from truly living and experiencing a meaningful existence. It encourages listeners to question societal expectations and urges them to break free from the cycle of consumerism, conformity, and mindless distractions in order to find true happiness and fulfillment.

Im a big fan of the cast and vods, but I gotta be honest Mo is a bit of a Hield hater. He shot better than any king other than maybe Barnes and again was the most productive bench player. Barnes had 3 turnovers, Fox had 3, and Haliburton got bullied out of bounds which caused him to force a bad pass where he prolly could have thrown it off a jazz player. Holmes fouled out in 18, fox was 5-19 and 0-5 on 3's and 50% on ft's, the kings were 2-21 from 3's not including Buddy, and Mitchel was 1-8 from the field... But Buddy had 24 pts and 7 rebounds and again Mo had nothing but negative stuff to say about him and says that ppl shouldn't be mad at fox when he shot horrible all around. ANd blows up mitchel without talking about the fact that he couldn't buy a basket again. There was a lot of bright side for those guys like the fact that Fox will have better nights, Mitchell had amazing defense, Barnes was amazing, Holmes had impressive stats in crazy limited minutes, and Haliburton got his scoring going, but Buddy was one of the biggest brightsides since the preseason and stepped up his rebounding, and defense heavy since last season and gets shitted on lol.. All i'm saying is the Buddy hate seems more biased at this point, last game he had a great passing game with zero turnovers and continues to be a spark off the bench and no compliments from Mo, and when he is a stand out shes insults his basketball IQ again. Nothing bad to say when Hali folded in the first game, shot horrible and had bad turnovers in the end of the game but of course she shits on Hield on a record night when hes one of the biggest brightsides of the team this game.. THey had a defensive player of the game who is prolly the best rim defender and Whiteside so jacking up 3's makes sense really. Just seems like Hield hate and bias at this point.
