Men Of Station
13 & God Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We are men of station
We are troubled men just the same
But we're not as hell as you

We are men of station
We are troubled men just the same
But we're not as hell as you
As hell as you
As hell as you

We are men of station
We are troubled men just the same
But we're not as hell as you

We are men of station
We are troubled men just the same
But we're not as hell as you

But we're not as hell as you

But we're not as hell as you
But we're not as hell as you

Overall Meaning

The song "Men of Station" by 13 & God speaks to the idea of societal hierarchy and the judgment that comes with it. The repeated phrase "We are men of station" highlights the privilege and power that comes with being part of the upper echelons of society. However, the following line "We are troubled men just the same" hints at the fact that even those with privilege and power are not immune to struggles and difficulties.

The final line "But we're not as hell as you" is especially interesting as it speaks to the idea of judgment and comparison. Even those in positions of power and privilege, who may have traditionally been seen as "better" or more successful, are still judged and compared to others. The use of the word "hell" implies that those lower down in the societal hierarchy are seen as inferior or even evil.

Overall, the song uses the repetition of the phrase "We are men of station" to comment on societal hierarchy and the way judgment and comparisons exist even within those upper echelons.

Probably it will not reach you,
but thank you a lot for these reduced lines, hitting my core and giving me some kind of comfort in taking my time. Means a lot!

Was given this album in maybe 2005 by a guy who got it from his brother and lord knows where he got it from. Thankful I was fortunate enough to hear this song it's one of my all time favorites just listening to it tonight for the first time in years. It makes me sad that more people haven't had the chance to hear this song just a real beauty of a song
